Nice work fullmetal. I'm still customizing my unit. This info helps.

Thank you

Even if I did install the OBC for them to program something, they said the programming will all be lost if I remove the OBC again. So I FINALLY did a DIY and re-installed the MID/OBC inside the glove compartment. I extended the connector using different colors of RCA plugs so that I don't get confused when I reconnect them. I cut them one-by-one and connected them one-by-one as well so that I don't get to short circuit anything (better safe/slow than sorry). Here's the final look of my glove compartment now...

I did the exact same thing about a year ago when I installed my AVIC. 5 wires, nice and easy, and I had to do it anyways to run all my iPod and male/female USB connectors. I even put in a long screw down the side so it snaps into place. It's easier than it looks people, hardest part was removing the glovebox itself.

Any news about satellite radio connectivity? I would really like to know. Thanks

Hi! I don't have satellite radio connectivity on this side of the pond but if your sat radio's audio-out connects or can be routed through a pair of RCA AUX INPUTS or a 3.5mm EARPHONE JACK then you can very well use this particular unit.

There is a a pair of right and left AUX INPUTS at the back and a 3.5mm earphone female port on the lower right front panel. Your choice.

But if it runs coaxial or optical or digital I wouldn't know. I hope this helps.

Finally had the time to focus on fixing all my Hualingan problems this weekend. I FINALLY OPENED UP THE HUALINGAN UNIT (didn't care about the waranty anymore because the guy where I bought it from is giving me a difficult time as well!).

I previously assessed the Hualingan like this...

These are NOT working as they should:

1. GPS - can't get it to work. It's looking for a Garmin GPS and stalls.
2. Bluetooth (Phone) - I can call, I can pair my iphone 3GS and Blackberry Storm 2, but the person on the other end cannot hear my voice! Maybe the MIC is not functioning or there is a setting I haven't discovered.
3. Chinese characters on the iPod interface intead of the words; Playlist, Artists, Albums, Genres, Songs, Podcasts, etc.etc.

Scale of 1-10 Happiness level on the Hualingan? 7 as of the moment. If the GPS and Bluetooth will be solved, it will be a 9. I will reserve the reason why I'm not giving it a 10

1. Now the GPS is working but since the HL unit has a very small onboard memory, the GPS is crappy. Scale of 1-10 for a GPS I'd give it a 5.

2. Regarding the Bluetooth missing audio, this is the exciting part where I'm sharing a DIY to all of you ther who have problems with the audio quality as well as those who would like to install an external MIC (I think fmugur/flor wants to do this). This is for you guys...

You did the right thing. GOOD JOB! As I mentioned before the only complain I had about this unit was the poor BT quality which you found a solution for.
I would rate this unit 9 as well on a 1-10 scale.
Did you get the iGo going or Garmin? I am pretty happy with iGo.

Thanks Florin! Putting the unit back together was the most difficult part. Luckily I did not have any spare screws left when I put everything back! :D I cannot GO with iGo becasue our Philippines map can only work with the GARMIN OS :(

Did they send you the new harness?
Also is navigation traffic implemented on the HL? I know that iGo supports it.

can you share your feedback on this including NAVAGATION, IPOD, BLUETOOTH, and REARVIEW CAM?

You're correct, I was thinking of Bimmian, I just bought a 2002 4.6is non-nav and was pretty much sold on the Hualingan unit. But I think I'll wait until I find more info on this particular unit.

| BMW Headunit Upgrade | Navigation retrofit | e46 | e53 x5 | E39 | E38

i will go with this option as they claim its plug and play while the unit you are discussing requires lots of work based on options you have:dunno:
