Lets see....

Transmission, Transfer case and front driveshaft were swapped out.

Rear (totally shot) subframe bushings were replaced. If you have not done this, please do. Also, buy the bushing tool for $60 - its well worth it.

New drain line fitted on the supercharger which connects to a custom dipstick tube DINAN fashioned.

Supercharger rebuilt by Vortech a few weeks back.

On the road for the first time since I've owned it tomorrow!

(arrived 12/25/18)

What’s the mileage on the rear subframe bushings. I feel mine are also shot but I can’t visually tell that they are.

If you have air suspension, put the frame on jackstands, let the air out of the bags (loosen the fitting just above the bag) then use a crowbar to push the subframe around. Their should be a lot of resistance to motion and it will forcibly re center.

I have to do this test on my car to confirm if it's the ball joint or the sub bush or both.

Installed AudioVox BT100BMW bluetooth module.

Worked very nicely with OEM Bluetooth for calls. Now I can use the "CD player" (Vox unit) to stream music :)

It prioritizes the ULF module when a call comes in and stops the music and resumes afterwards. Just no steering wheel controls for music.

Is it me or has the value of the 4.8is plummeted in just a year?

Dropped? I think it's increased

mr_robot 04-05-2019 08:35 AM

Compared to just last year when I shopping for mine I found it hard to come by around 10k range.

Now all I see is well below that only a handful that is above 10k are the under 90k miles.

CleanIsFast 04-05-2019 08:45 AM

I think they float around 7-12k for ones that need TLC. Nice examples I've seen are $12k+

$16k, 70k miles: https://www.avaziauto.com/2004_BMW_X...D_27818107.veh
$13k, 83k miles: https://www.mancusomotorsports.com/i...y/bmw/x5/1903/
~$19k, 63k miles: https://www.mancusomotorsports.com/i...y/bmw/x5/1944/
~$15k, 89k miles :https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0095/overview/

KBB values them for much less too, like $5k

CleanIsFast 04-05-2019 10:08 AM

I never use KBB for anything except for Nazi state of Virginia vehicle property tax. In which this actually works out to my benefit because they 'value' the 4.8is cheap. So my annual tax bill on it is cheap
