Nice.

Dinan makes an adapter to add the Supercharger oil feed line. It tees off by the oil filter housing. Sourcing that part and a small flex line could work well for your oil pressure sensor.

You can see how the block threads into the idiot light port, then the idiot light and S/C oil feed line both thread into the adapter block.

Very clean install. Where did you source your AE's? Just to confirm, 2003 headlamps cannot be baked open? Is it worthwhile to even attempt?

Kind of thinking I'd like to hire one of you lighting guys to clean up my OEM's + add angel eyes. Would be compensated, of course.

JB, rings can be sourced from our good friends in China on ebay for about $55:

BMW Angel Eye Halo Light Lamp Ring LED SMD Kit White Headlight E53 x5 1999 2004 | eBay

99% of 2003 headlights cannot be baked open easily, anything is doable with patience however. Carter had to resort to cutting the channel open and he told me it was still a bear. For what its worth, I think the cutoff date of headlight manufacture to make the switch to permaseal was 10/02, if before then, I think you have bakeable lights.

If I wasn't under a time restraint I'd be more than glad to attempt to get your 2003 lights open, I would just need a fair amount of time as its a painstaking process with the permaseal Hella uses, will take quite a bit of time in the oven with several choice pry tools, and probably a few hours of work to get each light open. With determination anything can be done.

Just to confirm, look on the back of your stock lights, by the low beam cover, there should be a timestamp on the back, indicating month and year of manufacture.

Here is a pic of where it is:

I'd be more than happy to build you a set with angel eyes, delete the waffles, and upgrade projectors to Bi-xenon EvoX-R's, and whatever else you'd like, (a different projector shroud comes to mind)

PM me your thoughts and after you check your headlights if your interested. If you'd like a reference I recently upgraded Matt's Estoril 4.6 (mam4.6) to EvoX-R's in aftermarket housings which are no longer available currently.

Ctsiegf,

Where did you wire the Angel eyes for power?

Peregrin-O 01-30-2014 03:16 PM

All this angel eyes talk is making me really antsy to get mine installed but I cant because of the stupid weather over here I got the ebay ones from parasite single in chrome but I need good weather so I can paint the housing satin black before I put them in.
Oh and I got the check lowbeam light message last night so I replaced it with one of the bulbs that came with the new headlights, funny how you can tell the difference in brightness. Oh well, I'll be getting rid of those headlights as soon as I install the new ones anyways.

I can definitely vouch for Jason's work, absolutely love the look, as well as far superior performance of my current setup. If anybody does get a hold of spyder headlights, I would recommend either putting in new ballasts for the CCFL AE's, or take out the AE's that come with the lights and install LED AE's. I have problems with light-up, but only in cold weather. I have ballasts ordered, and will be swapping mine out as soon as they get here!

You are lucky to get the Spyder housings, really nice housings for the price and pretty good quality too. 20 mins @ 210 degrees will be plenty to get them open, and be sure to swap all your xenon internals to the new units. You have stock xenon right? A new set of D2S bulbs will do wonders as well.

Thanks for the kind words matt, I'm glad your setup is working well. As far as the replacement CCFL ballasts go, that should do the trick for you. If these ever come off backorder from Spyder again and I get the chance to do another set, I will for sure offer LED angel eyes as an option.

I could source and install LED AE's for you but its probably not cost effective to do the shipping thing again for you.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check into it. Am I correct in thinking if I also go with a fluid temperature module, I can tie a couple sensors into the same module? I noticed on the PLX website pic that there are only 2 sensor input clips on the module. Am I correct in thinking I would need to buy another module if I want to see oil, coolant, and transmission temps?
