Make sure you have lots of AAA batteries on hand as that flashlight is a guzzler for batteries as the X5 is for fuel. Costco sells 16 pack batteries for cheap.

Yeah, I always have AA batteries in the X, the Passport Solo S2 eats them too!

I call my phone a flashlight & use it as a phone!

I've never liked LED flashlights until I came across this.......

I bought 3 of these, one for the X and 2 for the instant access handgun safes in the home.

360 lumen, blinding bright!

I think you completely missed the point of my post. I'm going to convert the stupid flashlight into a switched 12v outlet for my dashcam.

all the outlets in the x5 have a 15 minute delay before power is shut off. I want key out/engine off = auto power off capability in case I'm incapacitated in an accident, the dashcam will get auto shut off so it wont possibly loop over the accident footage.

The homelink button is a switched 12v source fwiw. That is what I have my radar detector tied to.

stackz 04-08-2015 03:19 PM

yeah but I dont want to cut up the harness/transformer for my dashcam and the transformer/12v adapter wont fit up underneath it. I do use my sunglass compartment as well.

the flashlight mod just seems to most prudent way for me....and it was free from the u-pull while I was getting a set of 04-06 cargo cover trim panels.

Picked mine up today from the Indy after the ever-lengthening visit. New engine mounts have eliminated my vibration. New front air struts have really made the ride feel a lot better. Valley pan doesn't make anything feel different but it's good to know that's out of the way. And the oops that kept it in the shop for an extra 8 days (new power steering rack).

It's good to be back behind the wheel! I don't mind taking the bus, but I like having the option. ;)

This thing drives better now than I've ever felt it. I mean, it should after I've put about $6K into it in the last year. But man it's fun to drive.

Last few weeks were "good" for the cars. Good as in I got stuff done. Crap that I had to get stuff done.

- Straightened two rear summer rims (style 168's). Because I value my marriage, I'm stating with certainty the bends were a gift from the PO. Found an awesome place in London, Ontario that made them perfect again.
- Scored some parts from a wrecker and installed: front left park sensor, leather shift boot, rear heated seat/switches/relay, rear cup holder face trim
- Redid bumper attachment clip I snapped from the last time I pulled it off.
- Thermostat
- CV boot clamp
- Got new Conti's for the 535i plus a dealer alignment.
- Ordered the Tekonsha RF brake controller
- Ordered the euro heated mirror glass inserts (eBay special)
- Ordered upper rear right suspension arm (last of the rear joints, initial shop missed this one)
- Snagged a set of noise reduction ear plugs for the track this summer (SureFire EarPro Sonic Defenders Plus). Even if they're crap, they sound awesome :)

On the hunt for a passenger mirror base (high gloss) that doesn't cost an arm and leg. Same for passenger roof rack. Mine have the corrosion flaking off the paint. Ugh.
