I installed Powerflex rear subframe bushings.
I didn't have the removal tool, so I used a Sawzall and a zip gun to destroy the busings. Installation is done by hand, no tool needed for insertion. Now I can have the X aligned and put a new set of rear tires. |
where do you guys get the powerflex bushings? How many miles and what was the condition of yours? Curious if it's a worth while buy.

I changed them without knowing if the OE rubber ones were shot or not. I had 2 'worn to the steel belts' 315s, and didn't want to take a chance with a new set. My rear arms+ball joints had no play. So I changed them anyways. I had 86000km (53000mi), and the OE busings were still good. Well, at least I know that the urethane ones will last for ever... |
Thanks Turbo.
Yea my rear seems tight, but while I am on the upgrade mode, I figured might order them. Not yet though. |
I replaced my side marker lights. Amazing the difference from old to new on such a small bit.
The old had become cracked and started holding moisture. |
tried four different 'laser-wash' houses (different owners, detergent and systems) to see if ANYONE could could get the crud off of the top of the tail window under the spoiler.
uhhh.. no. searched the site, but .. :bustingup |
Installed new headlight bulbs and white AEs. Not as bright as I wanted them, but better than stock. Now if I can figure out what to do about the boring signals.

I replaced the read subframe bushings on our new to me 2002 X5. It has 130K miles on it and the bushings were completely worn out. Knew that when I bought it.
Made my own puller, that didn't work very well. I also realized that I was not going to get the new ones in with out the correct tool. Purchased the removal/install tool from Koch Tools. The tool worked as it should. Test drove the car last night. What a enormous improvement, liking the car even more. |
