So, VAC recommended against ARP hardware for my application. Still doing the oil pump and heads. (They did talk me into some standard size S/S intake and Inconel exhaust valves, though.) Should have the heads off tomorrow and on the way up north. You're absolutely right though Duke, VAC has some neat toys. Heard their SEMA booth this year was impressive. LOL - quick oil change, new rear wiper blade, wash & vac yesterday... got some problems to sort on the horizon though - passenger-side parking light not working - indicator (repeater) coming on instead? Also hose from ATF resevoir leaking slowly -will replace after pay day
About the lights - the 'angel eye' ring is not lighting on the passenger side - mechanic said I need to replace it with BMW parts from the dealer; not just an electrical failure? Most grateful for any advice... |
Well, not today, but things I've done recently (2006 X5 3.0i, manual 6 speed trans, 82k):
1. Listened to my wife complain about not being able to use the driver's heated seat (because the element is just about ready to burn a hole through the leather and I haven't fixed it yet). 2. Listened to my wife complain about the passenger side door mirror that doesn't want to stay in place (because something is busted inside and I haven't fixed it yet). 3. Cleaned driver's side door latch assembly / Hall effects sensors because interior lights would come on intermittently and drain the battery. This I fixed! 4. Cleaned up rear light electrical panel corrosion that was causing rear brake light to not work. Fixed! 5. CCV system replacement. 6. Power steering hose replacement. 7. Oil change. Soon will be: front brakes, belts, and tires. Every time I check something off the list, something NEW pops up! We considered getting rid of it, but A) no one really offers a 6 spd manual and we love it, B) nothing seems to ride / feel as tight as the E53, and C) new vehicles are expensive! |

dittooooo..! Today I scrubbed the leather all over with bio washing powder solution, cleaned the front parking sensors out with toothpicks, checked all the fuses and tried to figure out the problem with the parking lights/ repeater... will need help with this :( |

turned off the amber front corner park lights, so just angel eyes and HID's show at night. Also got the fog lights activated with hi-beams
looks good now. |
earlier the week, I changed almost every fluid and a service 2. Nest week is a tranny flush and front outer CV boots change.

called a flatbed for it.
after two winters of avoiding the dreaded oil separator freeze, it struck again! loss of power, massive cloud of white smoke, pulled into a subdivision and killed it immediately. thankfully it was Saturday - didn't make me late for work or anything else important. also lucked out and was able to get a ride to the dealer and pick up a loaner. does anyone wait for the tow truck? I just leave the key on the seat and ditch it. it's not like anyone can drive the damn thing anywhere. guess it depends where you are Attachment 53283 these E90's drive really well - the NA I6 doesn't feel underpowered at all and sounds great, but would be much better with a third pedal. their last '11 335i is on the showroom waiting for a new home - titanium silver, M-Sport, absolutely loaded - exactly how I'd order one, except it's an auto. $8,000 price reduction is really tempting... it's going to be another expensive week |
