My 4.4i is a young pup then with 150k on the original motor and transfer case. The transmission was "new" (reman unit) a few years ago at around 130k. Motor is coming out in early Dec for the 4.6 swap. The crank pulley/balancer and accessory drive pulleys went on today finally. It took for ever for the crank pulley to come in, but its a 4.6 unit, which is good as its a light underdrive piece as compared to the 4.4 crank pulley. Now I'm just waiting on a power steering pump, an aluminum water pump pulley and misc fasteners, hoses, brackets etc. to ship.
I was going to scrap my 4.4 but now I'm leaning toward keeping it for a future project. This is old news to many here I'm sure, but I only recently stumbled on someone's blog about building a "M60B44"...basically a M62 block with M60 heads and the double row and roller guide timing chain set up from the M60. The M60 heads allow for hotter cams from CAT, or others, and a higher compression ratio. The guy said north of 350 HP was easy/ The lifters are the long pole as they limit RPM somewhat, but there are solutions for that too apparently. |

And if you say the word I could stay with you I could be handy Mending a fuse When your lights have gone You can knit a sweater by the fireside Sunday mornings go for a ride Doing the garden Digging the weeds Who could ask for more? Will you still need me Will you still feed me When I'm sixty-four? |

I live in “oil” country to say…
All the top refinery guys say DONT run anything but regular gas WHY? Because, no one buys the Premium or Super so it just sits in rusty tanks under the pump until some sucker buys it |

My engine won't run on 87.
Limp mode on the first application of throttle. (Discovered the hard way when somebody brought me 87 when I ran out of gas) |

And also living in Texas... there are a ton of premium vehicles on the road. That gas is rotated out plenty. The "top refinery" guys must be the roughnecks driving to work in Ford Rangers and Dodge Dakotas. Not that there is anything wrong with being one of those, have a few relatives who did stints, but I wouldn't trust either of them to give me advice on the fuel that goes into my tank. |
I must have posted in the wrong thread.
Never the less you’re better off with octane booster. Gasoline doesn’t stay “good” forever so there goes every Zombie Apocalypse scenario |
