mine's averaged 10000 miles a year, but now less while I drive it
2001; 210017 miles on the day I got it. I've only put 37 miles on it in 3.5 months, so far, so I expect that average to drop.
I hardly ever go anywhere anymore, being retired and dog-sitting our four dogs (aged 4-14 with the old chihuahua being blind, and the 10 y.o. boxer three-footed, they need a lot of attention), feeding the feral cats we keep around (to keep mice & snakes at bay), and managing my wife's new obsession with free-range chickens. Separate vacations for the last 25 years, since we need to watch the critters (we once had 10 dogs).
As-is, I mainly travel about 1000-1200 miles a year on my own (down from 30-40k a year, while working and/or drag-racing), solo-camping in my home-built trailer, and only driving with her along to visit her octogenarian parents, to go shopping, or out to eat.
The X5 is just my back-up, all-purpose vehicle, since I use my HD pickup for camping & trailering (the X5 has a hitch), my HHR Panel for shopping and local hops, and the wife has her little Cobalt for flitting around town, and her GMC pickup for hauling & people transport (has a backseat, as does the X5...I don't recommend the Cobalt coupe for extra passengers, and the HHR has only two seats)!
Once I get the X5 outfitted to my liking, I might take it camping once or twice, since it will easily pull the 2200 lb squareback trailer I built, but I will just make short hops until I'm comfortable driving the highest-mileage vehicle I have (my old S-10 lasted 248000 miles, before it got T-boned), and so, it's just as retired as I am. I think/hope it's in better shape than me, though.
