No nuts, just the screw to plastic. You need to cut off the tabs on the flares though.

If I just use screws won't the heads be visible? How did you screw it in? What angle?

check out the pics on the 4.6 - the flares come standard (even though, different from yours, you can see the difference in these pics), and you will see where that template goes - the holes are drilled/cut in the flat part of the existing trim...

Hey, thanks for responding. Did you have to take your wheel and wheel cover of? And once you put the template off after making the holes. Did you use screws to attach it? Or the little clips that came with it?

no,no,no... on E53 the 4.6 and 4.8 came standard from the factory with those arch flares, so a normal user would not even know about the holes in the arches, as the flares are there already from the factory. the diesel models had that "wide body" kit that you are referring to, and those holes have to be cut (or, an HP bumper version of the arches needs to be ordered, with holes already pre-drilled into flat arches). in the post that i mentioned you will see the diff in appearance between HP type flare that was standard on 4.6 and 4.8 models with 20" standard rims vs the wide kit flare for a diesel that 20" rims as an option. also, the $160 difference in price...so, short answer, no, i did not drill holes, they were there from the factory on mine...
