Yea the thing is, this sucker didn't even land yet. I think tomorrow we will see it.
I just came back from tying down my huge awning. I realize a lack of hurricane straps on these things. Going to upgrade all of the awnings when the storm clears. I think these storms will get more common. Yea so far it's been light rain, but decent wind. It makes you brace yourself when the gust hits. It rocked the X a bit on a highway overpass. I feel like my sunroof seal is shit. This big wind really blows through it. I suspected this before, so I ordered the upgraded seal. Supposedly its a bit thicker. |
Just got done splitting firewood this weekend, caulking my shed roof in the leaking corner (no leaks yet today even in the rain), caulked all drip edges of the non replaced windows outside my house, and any small holes in the siding.
Solvent welded an additional 2 foot extension with a 45' coupler and another 2 foot section pointing downhill so when the sump pump empties it actually goes AWAY AND DOWN instead of ejecting 6 inches from the foundation and making a pool that just brings the water back in the basement. I'm up on the mountain so I dont expect it to be crazy bad, I was one of the lucky 250 people at Lowes in Kinnelon yesterday who got a sweet Briggs and Stratton 5500 Storm Responder generator with the 250cc motor, 5500 watts is good to run my fridges, sump pump, and a couple other things if I lose power, and our chimney is cleaned out and ready to burn a fire. X5 stays in the garage high and dry along with the wife's Rav4 and my Triumph Thunderbird, unless if I need to go out and fill up the gas cans. Thank god my in-laws were up at 6 am yesterday in line at Lowes and got us a generator, one of those things I'll only have to buy once and been putting off for way too long. Good luck tonight guys and girls |
Speaking about sunroofs, like an idiot I left my sunroof up last night. No water in the cabin but definitely in through the headliner.

This is my 2nd day of rain and strong winds. Sandy is headed directly to my location
Just collected a parking sign from my driveway. I thought a brick hit my wall. Nope, a 2'x1' aluminum sign hit my brick. Brick > aluminum sign.
my power is flickering and the wind is starting to howl. sandy is about to make landfill in an hour here.
Seems to have calmed down a bit.
How's everyone holding up?
Power went out at 7 pm, been out since.
