agreed, investigate the limit switch wires going in. I just replaced mine and they work again after years of NOT just because the wires frayed and one actually broke off the last time I looked, but it was not broken off the previous times I investigated my problems with the power fold.

I actually don't like the tilt. ;)

I do have to get around to figuring out why my driver side mirror won't fold in, though :(

I only use this feature when I need to parallel park the X so I don't curb a wheel.

herers another question.
my trunk has been recently "opening" on its own lately. especially when driving.
get the, click... "trunk is open" error and lights go on..and then yes the hatch is loose...any possible reason its doing that?
ughhh...son of a ......LOL

COuld be the spring is about to fail. Had that happen, and then sure enough the spring popped, and I had to replace the actuator. Hope it's something less of a pain in your case.

is it possible to disable the passenger rear view mirror from angling down when backing up?

makes it a pain in the butt to spot my fence while backing my boat up when the darn thing is facing the ground instead of back...

its an 01 x5 if that matters.

little switch that selects left or right mirror for adjustment - move the switch to the opposite position... One position - mirror tilts, the other position - mirror stays straight...

To determine if it is electrical or mechanical issue you could pull fuse 84 and see if it still opens on its own.

Ditto TX5...it is very easy & simple to disable/deactivate the "curb monitor" which has been a BMW feature for decades (I know at least back to the 1980s)...and the procedure has been the same since then...at least up to our generation of BMWs (e38/e39/e46/e52/e53).

See the page below from the owners manual on how to deactivate the pass mirror tilt feature when gear selector is in REVERSE. :)

Hello, here's my dumb question: What controls the aux fan? Is there a sensor that measures coolant temp? The aux fan turns on much sooner that the fan clutch engages. I thought the clutch was broken so i replaced it but it seems that the new one is doing the same thing

See the info at this link...there's a page with details about the aux fan from BMW tech docs...and a page from the Bentley Serv Manual...similar info...but each gives some details/info: http://www.xoutpost.com/995130-post19.html
