One more question.

Can I hook up CD CHANGER from 2003 into my 2000 DSP installation?
My car has SPDIF/COAX DSP amp and 3pin connector for CDC.

I can see that post 2002 CDC all have SPIDF on the back.
Are they compatibile? Anyone?

Do u still use CD changer in your car? :D

If your CDC has the little coax SPIDF socket on the back it will definitely work, otherwise it will most probably won't work - at least in combination with an older DSP amp.

I don't have CDC. I need one to trick the Radio. I will send pure digital signal from my GALAXY S6 to the SPDIF in of my DSP.

Coolest route you can make.

I have one more question. How do you access a CDC instead of in dash CD? Where is the button? Do I need to have at least one CD in CDC for radio to see it?

Thanks.

Ok, that should be possible... Wanted to do something similar using a USB<->SPDIF audio interface on my e39 - but never got the time to finish this project...

You select/cycle the input using the "MODE" button as you do to switch between radio and cd player...
Technically the CD changer will respond to a message send by the radio every x seconds (polling).

Just for your information: there are other ways to simulate a CDC using a microcontroller for example, you don't have to carry a real CDC with you :)
MP3 players like the ones you will find on ebay (YATOUR, ...) for the e39 & e53 work this way.

If you want to know more about this, maybe you could find some more information here (maybe google translator will help: unfortunately it's written in german): //BMW-Projekte/I-Bus Informationen
//BMW-Projekte/MP3 Projekt

Thank you for reply. I wanted to buy a CDC emulator... and maybe I'll do that.
It's just that I can have a CDC for 15 bucks... ;)

German site looks like a lot of learning.
I hope my idea will work. It would be the best possible way of all soundqualitywise.

I'll keep you informed if it worked :D

spadge 09-23-2016 08:06 AM

You're welcome :)

A CDC for 15 bucks sounds nice... But I suppose you need to have a CD inside - so it should also has to be a working one...

SviRu 09-23-2016 08:09 AM

Yeah... you must spin the cd all the time. It's not a problem.
But yeah... I thnik that emulator is a better idea ;).

I'll try to do that with CDC if it works fine I'll leave it be :D
