APC > All Purpose Cleaner, like...Dawn Dish Detergent. Removes grease too! Does not work on brother's blood so keep clear of X5. (use large tarp see "Jersey" body removal Tips and Tricks section).

This seems like a good thread for this...my center console is stuck closed. Not the top part (the "lid"), but the main piece that opens up into the big compartment in the console. No amount of force on the latch will budge it...it's like it's locked. I put some sunglasses in there and I think they must've wedged up against the latch. Is there a way to get it open without breaking it? :dunno:

I would quiz a dealer. It is quite likely they have had to solve that problem.

You could try removing the carpeted side panel below the console. There is only one screw to remove and then pop it out from the middle. That would allow you to tap on the outside of the compartment that might jar the sunglasses loose if that is what is causing the problem.

I would call a dealer service advisor or walk in and talk to one first.

I've noticed the exact same thing lately. When I back-up out of my driveway (slight hill and a few bumps) the compressor kicks on for a few seconds.

so my brother used "la's totally awesome" he said he rinsed the engine down with water, sprayed the cleaner/degreaser full strength and scrubbed right away. he let it sit for about 2 minutes the rinsed. I ended up going over everything with dish soap and an old sponge and I cleaned the white residue away but it looks like it left white streaks and spots on the plastics that won't wash out or covered with something like armor all

Radio shuts off on its' own after 20 mins

Bought a 2004 X5, 3.0i w/155K. Beautiful car but has issues. I've been correcting one by one.
My issue is the AM/FM radio isn't tied to the ignition key. It's always hot. You have to manually turn on and off.
When on, it will turn off after 20 mins on it's own. If you press the volume/on/off button it will come back on for another 20 mins.
And unable to set the clock on the radio. I had the LED strip replaced.
Also the number 73 or 74 10a fuse in the back (for the radio) seems to have a short. Every time I a new one in it blows the fuse (only took me three to learn something is wrong).

You really want to ask this question in a thread that is 30 pages long and the subject matter goes from scrambled eggs to zebra poop?

Do yourself and others that may have this same issue (because it's not a "dumb" question) and start a new thread. This way, your name is attached as the OP (original poster)+ it will be easier to find...as well as getting better replies because the actual subject matter will be in the title. Someone with the answers to your questions may never click on this thread to answer you because their expectation is that this thread is about dumb questions.

Starting your own thread will also make the replies and the thread eaiser to find...instead of being buried in a multi-topic, 30 page, multi-year thread.

Just a thought. :)
