Good info Qsilver7.
Only error I see there is the 19" wheels being part of the sport pkg on the thru '03 (pre-facelift) 4.4i, the 19" wheels were, in fact, an additional stand alone option. Pre facelift 4.4s with sport pkg and standard 18" wheels also came with a speed limiter (128mph) due to "slow" tires. For '03 MY the standard 18" wheels on sport pkg 4.4s got "faster" tires (V rated) and the limiter was removed (143mph). I note this because I wanted the "full nut" M62 4.4i sport (no speed limiter). Bean counters who force manufacturer installed speed limiters in the name of saving a few dollars per unit (on slow tires) should be SHOT AT DAWN!!! |
Thanks for that update...I did miss that in my edit...there were other things incorrect in the article that I did try to fix...glad you brought those things to light.

right, I thought id post in here because frankly I cant remember , plus it sounds stupid
:) the other week I took off my drivers door trim to try to pin point a noise when I shut the door ( maybe broken clip) any whoo , didn't find the noise and put the trim back in , now I get this if I have the engine running , and open the tailgate ,the cluster message says, "tailgate open" I can then open each door in turn , all doors will illuminate the internal lights, apart from the drivers door so somethings wrong with my drivers door question is when you open the doors does the cluster say door open , ??? told you it was dumb, but tbh Ive never noticed, so cant remember :) yeah I'm embarrassed ;) |

In other words, I think what Q says, Tailgate (Boot) open appears even when you are stationary with engine running but the Door Open (or door symbol on the pictogram) appears if you start driving with open door... right?
|
^^^^ Correct. :) ^^^^
|
never tried that tbh, just tried it stationary, as I said I couldn't remember what the cluster said :)
ok then next one why doesn't my driver door trigger the internal light to come on when its open :) is it the drivers lock mechanism that's nackered??? |
Since the door switch should trigger the interior lights...I would agree that something is not right. The switch and door wiring harness would be the things I'd be checking.
BTW...it's not clear if the interior light issue was already present...or occurred after working on the door. If after...then the obvious is to retrace the work you did to see if something is disconnected or perhaps a pinched or chaffed wire. |
tell you what I did notice though the wiring insulation , the kinda insulation tape loom makers put over their looms was different closer to the lock , like it had been removed in the past and re wound , so am going to re look at that , the interior light WAS working , as normal before I removed and re attached the door trim.
I will have to wait fo a nice day and take it back off hopefully its a wiring fault , |
