May is here....no second letter in the mailbox today....do I sound impatient?.....maybe by my 6 hour road trip to the shore this August my wife can actually sit safely in the front seat!

To head office as suggested bcause we are talking of something that will make the difference between stay alive or die !! And it is my wife sitting there...that is what i have told them..

I'm having the same issue. My X was imported to Canada from the US by a previous owner. The airbag light in the cluster and passenger airbag off light on the roof are both on. At first they would only come on if someone sat in the passenger seat but now it's 100% of the time.

My local dealer ran the VIN and told me my vehicle isn't part of the recall. I called both the Canadian and American BMW 800-numbers and got the same response from them. I'd really like to see this get resolved...

Just make sure that she wears her seat belt. God forbid if you were involved in an accident...the default is for the bags to deploy...and by wearing her belt...it would prevent her from possible injury or even fatal peril from an exploding airbag as she was propelled toward it...and it toward her...by not being belted.

You can see in the info below how the dual stage airbag system of the MRS (multiple restraint system) deploys based on if the occupants are belted or not belted:

Defect Investigations Results | Safercar.gov | NHTSA

Campaign numbers are different and appear to be an add on to the 2008 recall
http://brandilawblog.files.wordpress...bmw-recall.pdf

What's odd is the NHTSA states some 2004 & 2005 vehicles are included but BMW's SIB doesn't - Or the SIB appears confusing in the hopes of eliminating the older vehicles from warranty

BMW WILL EXTEND THE WARRANTY COVERAGE OF THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG OCCUPANT DETECTION MAT TO 10-YEAR/UNLIMITED MILEAGE ON APPROXIMATELY 120,000 REMAINING MY04-06 SUBJECT VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 11/30/05.
