My car went in this morning, got a loaner (Toyota) and they called to say that they needed "more parts" so it won't be ready till tomorrow (Friday) or?? No worries I have a 2014 Toyota....believe or not it this cheap thing has....PADDLE SHIFTERS.but on a $70,000 X5 ??

 maybe it's time to "upgrade" to a 2014 Toyota..

A 2014 Toyota is no upgrade. My father in law has a 2013 and it's so boring to drive that I practically fall asleep doing so

When I went to the dealer two weeks ago to get the electronics reflashed to recognize the trailer hitch, the dealer's computer said my vehicle wasn't subject to any recalls. I showed them the January letter, of course ... the response was BMW doesn't tell them anything ....... in short, no parts, so they don't tell the dealer its subject to recall to lessen the gripes from dealers.Seesh.

Occupancy sensor mat replaced today....the 7 month saga has come to an end.

Went to my Dealer today, they said it wasn't part of the re-call. I think my x is a 9/05 production.

FINALLY, (Saturday) I got the X5 back late this afternoon...it went in on Thursday morning!
So, the parts ARE available, you just need to make some noise.
I would have thought that they would "save" all the info from the computer....time...date...mpg...etc, but it came back erased....
Oh well, now I can put it up for sale....hate to see it go but time to change.

Ive missed this thread all along and very surprised auto manufacturers and dealerships continue to mishandle recalls especially safety related. I read almost the entire Valukas report on GM's recalls this year. It clearly showed a complete disregard for the safety of consumers and drivers. Because of this I have signed up my VIN directly on NHTSA website and receive weekly digest of all recalls. I will also sign now sign up on BMWUSA'S website to cover all angles.

LOL  Now that's ^^^funny

I received my second letter Friday. Appt. set for next week. The service adviser asked if I would like a loaner, I said hell yeah I want the 2014 X5M I test drove last week... He laughed and said I'll talk to my manager and see what I can do .

We'll see what they give me when I show up. I can tell you this I won't be leaving in a Toyota.;)

Daka 07-14-2014 11:06 PM

Don't knock the Toyota, I put 200 miles on it and it got 30 mpg city.
I don't understand the paddle shifters on this car however...and I will say this....
If you want TRANSPORTATION and are not a car snob (I am, and so are you...admit it)
this will get you around just fine....and CHEAPLY...of course after 3 years of owning it, you better sell it off before it falls apart....(or not) they did fix my X5, and in the process did erase all the stored memory....
