BMWMAN - check out Radar Roy's $50k challenge to RMR. They won't take him up on it for their $180 unit. Bottom line...junk. I bought a K40 radar detector and laser "diffuser" but I have seen mixed reviews. The radar detector portion is GREAT, but the laser jammer goes off and I haven't been pulled over yet. I can't attest to its performance as it has only gone off as I was doing 80 is a 65mph zone with traffic.

As for radar jammers, it was mentioned that they will land you in jail in the US. That is true. FCC doesn't take kindly to those that actively jam radar. Working for a radar development company (for defense applications), I can say that there are jamming technologies that exist, for a price similar to that of systems on expensive aircraft. If you do find a solution though, I would be interested!!! :p:

I have the LI installed, but found out that it does me no good. They started using radar now and barely use laser. So I want a radar jammer but know that it is near impossible to find a working one.
I wouldn't mind paying up to $10k for a radar jammer, but I know I will never find a working one. And I want it for Dubai, where they use cameras. In the US, A radar detector (Valentine 1!!) is good enough.

The LI is the truth. Best lidar jamming product out there. Best reviews/test by far.
It has already saved me a handful of times. Definitely looking to get one for the X5 when it comes in.

In the manual it shows the bubble on the outside. I will check that out.
Which jammer are you talking about that comes with an F-18? And is it F-18 as in the jet? I don't mind spending money but I want it to work. If there is nothing good out that anyone could recommend, I will order a few different ones and see which works.

I also tried the LI today with many different lasers, and it didn't detect any of them. I will have to look into this too.

Bubble on the outside. This comes directly from Cliff at LI. I have had several laser jammers over the last 5-6 years. I feel that LI is the best performer and also the most difficult to install if you are adding rear sensors as well as front. They must be straight and level. Also, great customer service from Cliff. Cost in Us is $1,400 plus $500 or so to install.

$1,400 is the quad setup, but I got the HP quad which is about $2,500 plus about $500 for the install.
I was just on their site, and it looks like they have a new version 8 out. Do you have version 7 or 8?
And the jammer to parking sensor switch seems pretty cool just incase you get stopped. It can also be linked to your V1!?

998M 03-24-2010 01:09 PM

I have version 8. didn't know about linking to V1. Will look into it. Didn't go with HP version. Was not tested by anyone at the time I ordered.

Not much information on how it links to V1. I see a diagram but what does the connection do. May be using the V1 laser receiver to initiate the jam. If that is the case, I prefer the LI for laser detection rather than the V1. There are far fewer false alarms with LI than V1.

I believe the link is just for the voice alert no other function than that.

Can someone post a detailed measurement of the size (length x width x depth) and a few pictures of one of the detectors that mounts in the front. I'm curious if one can be somehow embedded in one of the bumper plugs on an E53 X5.
