Laser Interceptor Install on E70!

I installed the Laser Interceptor on my X5 today. I know a few people have this on here and some were interested. I will get some daytime pictures up tomorrow.
It is the Quad sensor set.
Let me know what you think.

I got the highest model. It came to about $3000. They have cheaper models though.

I wonder why you need sensors at the back of the car?
anyway, these things are illegal here in Belgium, you can have your car repossessed when busted...

Looks good. Make sure the heads are level. I assume you cut out the mesh grill on the front a bit? Also how did you run the wires for the rear sensors?

I have to check it again tomorrow to make sure its level, but it was when installed. I didn't do it myself, but the dealer that did it mounted the control unit under the seat. With the control unit there, they were able to get power from the lighter in the console, mount the button where it is, and run the wires easily. All I know is they took it from under the driver seat to the left of the car then to the rear. When are you panning on getting it?

Also, do you have a radar jammer because that next on my list.

On/Off switch

Nice install however, your on/off switch is upside down. :bustingup
I know, it's your preference..

Okay, some constructive criticism for you - Did the dealer have to cut out the mesh grill? Could they not have placed the unit behind it? And did they have to use silver screws, could they not have used black screws??

Good stuff... you should of looked up the LPP... more stopping power, less $$$

AVATT 03-09-2009 07:19 PM

Looks great, I have the same set up. I mounted the switch in the overhead panel tho.

As for some of the comments from others, you were correct to not mount behind the grill as that reduces performance. Also, the LPP is a good unit but the LI has performed similarly especially in light of some who believe the LPP's tested lately were prototypes, and lately the LI rep (at least in the US) has been more reliable.

Good luck.
