Right angel eye bulb went out so I replaced both with some inexpensive LeD replacements in both sides. As expected, the outer ring isn’t illuminated that well but I think I’ll keep them on.
Also replaced a front right rotor after getting a replacement for a defective Brembo unit from fcpeuro. The defective rotors didn’t seem to be true as there was a knocking noise when braking. |
2011 35d with 157K on the odo. Today was EGR valve clean out day regardless if it was programmed or not. The X5 did the reduced power/leave you stranded routine yesterday and after a AAA ride home I checked the faults and got 40E9, 4B81, 4DED, 4C9F. It would not idle with the EGR plugged to the harness but it would disconnected.
The Mann ProVent mod was done about 15k ago and my thoughts were not having to worry until 20K to do a carbon clean out of the EGR and intake manifold. Wrong. I removed the EGR and while it was not the greasy sloppy mess as with the CCV connected to the intake it still accumulates a hard carbon to the point of reducing the diameter of the EGR valve and keeping the plunger open. Cleaned it free of carbon and until the plunger closed on its own. Mounted it on the intake and the X5 started right up. There was at least 1/3rd cup of carbon in the thing. Washed out the Mann filter with brake cleaner and the next step is to run a can of LubroMoly diesel intake cleaner to cut down some of the carbon in the intake manifold. |
Last week I replaced the aFe Pro Dry S air filter with a fresh one so I can clean the alternate one, changed the oil with Mobil 1 5W30 ESP Formula and OE filter then put 2300 miles on it over a few days. It performed flawlessly and got amazing fuel mileage.

My mistake for not including the actual product. It is not the additives it is the actual spray that goes into the intake: https://youtu.be/vbP1_H1dzOs |
