Replaced Tstat yesterday. Dug around today to find the courtesy light in the drivers door was lost inside the door. Worked fine, etc, just there instead of in the door handle.. Go figure.Have owned the car for about 3 months. First thing was oil change, cabin air filters. a month ago was the EGR cooler due to broken spring issue. Still have a long list of items to work on/do.

Two things on my 4.8 - 1) I fixed an exhaust rattle. The tip is a two piece design and mine developed a really annoying rattle that was fixed with a quick tack weld. 2) I replaced the heater valve and finally have heat on the passenger side! It wasn't as bad of a job as I thought it would be.

Changed the oil yesterday. Mobil1 European formula 0-40W. Couldn't find the Mann filter I ordered a couple of weeks back, so had to pop out to autozone for a Wix extended life filter. Fit was good and appeared to be the best of the four brands they stocked - came from Poland rather than China.

Also, used my new Foxwell NT530 to clear a vehicle check service flag.

This passed friday I did another oil change, as it had been 8k miles already. I also drained and filled the front diff. I've done 2 or 3 hundred miles since, and the diff noise hasnt changed. I have everything to do the rear diff fluid, so I'm planning on doing that on wednesday I believe. Curious if the diff whine goes away. Sprig time I do plan on swapping diffs regardless.

Are you using BMW 75w-85 for the front diff?

Liquimoly 75w90. It was close, and is what FCP was suggesting. Not too worried about the minimal difference
Using the same for the impending rear diff fluid, and the transfer case I used BMW fluid in, like a good little bmw owner.

Ditto, but even more interested in the ride/handling report..

I was away on a trip so I haven't driven the x5 much. I finally got around to lowering the rear with ISTA and I still have to dial in the rear ride height. Initial thoughts are the ride is tighter with less body roll but you feel the bumps a little more.
