HAs anyone been quoted $ on a towbar for the new E70 X5 in Australia.. ?My dealer says the kit isn't available yet ...?? Thanks

Dealer in Brisbane quoted me $2150, I will wait for a while to see how it looks on the car before I spend that sort of money. I presume the price will drop with time.

This is what I have been told, Hayman Reece are the ones that make the towbar in conjuction with BMW and BMW designed the special cabling and computer box so it connects into the fexiray wire system.

Hayman Reece at this point in time have not commnece production of the towbar.

Beacuse the "trailer stability system" involves the flex-ray electronics you will have little chance of getting an aftermarket fitment in the near future and a non BMW fitting may void the warranty on your electronics if some third party starts tapping into the vehicle wiring.

I've seen BMW OEM E70 (Part # 71600413359) hitches from the US which I now presume would not be compliant / able to be used in Australia ?

The towbar has to comply to the Australian X5 thus the towbar will be produced in Australia mostly by Hayman Reece. BMW are saying they are just starting to recieve towbars now.

BMW are importing the cable and switch boxe so the only way you are going to get a towbar is from BMW I would say.

Hayman Reece may after a period of time sell the towbar but you still need the switch box.

By the way the switch box is only a $30.00 part but BMW will mostly charge $900.00 for it? The towbar is probably only a $500.00 part as was the towbar for the old X5.

Hi everyone, I got a quote for an X5 RFT tire from BMW, about $900 and if you got a puncture, the tire can not be repaired it has to be replace.

Has anyone got any issue with Run Flat Tite.
Thanks

I have an issue that the cars come with them when new.. ! Particularly as I don't want the 3rd seat and will get a spare ... I presume that once they wear out I can go to non-RFT at that time ?

US Retail is around $510 or so.. so I will have a BIG problem if the cost is more than $1000 fitted.. We'll see what happens.. I don't need one now it is just in case as I often have the need to tow trailers etc... and maybe one day will get a boat !!!
