Nope... I'm a bigger fan of polishing it myself and keeping it garaged.... besides which, they're usually just a spray on protector that the dealers use as margin padding IMO...

Cheers

I was wondering the same thing about the paint protection. My dealer gave me a flier on "fifth dimension" concours p3 paint protection, scratch "n" dent safeguard, Leather Preserver, carpet and fabric protector and vinyl protection. Total cost $2,000, Dealer says if you are going to keep the car for longer than 3 years it's worth the money.

Ordered an x5 in mid july, dealer advised being built in September but no chasis no yet. Delivery October. Space Grey Black upholstery, self level suspension, sun roof, comfort access, comfort seats, running boards, alarm, anti dazzle mirrors, bi-xenon lights, washers, adapative head lights, high beam assist, navagation system and rear camera. 18" wheels.
Can't Wait

Took delivery finally today of my 3.0d - Some initial comments from my limited driving experience thus far
Pluses
- Great power delivery - this is my first diesel and comming out of a 330ci i was very pleasantly surprised
- Ride comfort was also a pleasant surprise even with the 20 inch wheels and sports suspension
- xenons are great as is the high beam assist function
-saddle brown interior looks evn better in the flesh and glad I chose it
-love how u can have dual screens on the monitor

Minuses

-yeah that reverese camera really is crap at night
- the dealer charging me Luxury car tax (35%) on the chrome tips and titanium grills without warning me that this would be the case if I got them to put it on at delivery even though i ordered them after I had ordered the car

Questions

- Do those stickers on the back seat (which i think show child seat points come off)- they look kind of funny

will try and post some pics on the weekend

Enjoy everyone.

Stickers look fine on beige interior !Seriously though , on the diesel I've noticed a delay in pick up when turning out of a corner.. not sure if this is termed turbo lag but it often takes a bit of a punch on the pedal to get the car accelerating again... if this is not common I'll report it to the dealer... this is noticeable on one corner near my place it is a left turn up a medium incline.

My gripes at the moment are lack of source mode memory on the audio and no microphone mute button (apart from on the actual phone wich is a pain (and dangerous when driving) when it's in the cradle) for the phone. Show us the chrome tips when you can..presume you got the round ones...

One of the things I noticed with my old E53 was that the software for the gearbox did not sense a turn and incline very well. In my case it was a roundabout that became an incline on exit, and the econmoy mode inputs (turn/brake/decel/carrying moderate speed/speed of throttle depression) all left it in a cruising gear. I found the only way around it (as it was deliberate) was to press the throttle faster (not harder) and it got the message quicker.

Re the mute button, have you tried programming one of your steering wheel buttons for the mute function? (page 49 of the manual) I've found that a lot of these type of functions operate in each mode for the same thing.... eg nav voice volume only operates when voice is speaking...

Cheers......
