Fuel consupmtion is worse, but i cant tell how much worse so far. Obviously as extra power output, it will cost more, even they claim it's more efficient IF drive the same, BUT HOW??

0-100km is quicker, but very limited. Intersting is when you accelarate from 40KM/h onward, it's much more quicker to overtake than beofre, i guess that's because of 700 torque?

I ordered a 2010 build 3d with 3rd row & innov pkg/sun roof for $109k drive away just before xmas. I heard people were getting fantastic deals much earlier in the year, but have I have paid too much? This is about $11K off list

I got my 35d for $105k driveway - but had to add extra $2.5k for BMW paint protection (we sit under a BAT runway here in Melbourne and my X5 is outside 24x7), interior protection (2 young kids) and tint (which looks fantastic on alpine white) ... NOW ...must qualify ..

I bought mine in late Nov (delivered late Dec) as as 09 model (i.e. older iDrive system) .... then had problems so BMW are replacing with new 10 model end of march ..

for the incoming 10 model I added innovation pack (struck a deal at $3k for that) ,,,and then decided to add 19 Y spoke (as on current 4.8 model) just to spice it up a little (the 18 stars on 35d are ok, but just look a bit basic - personal taste) ...19;s are costing $5k to add (not cheap ,,,glad I didnt want the 20's as an afterthough:yikes:

not too much fruit on mine - basically I'll have 2010 35 with innovation pack, sports steering, roof, sideboards ....


for your $109 driveaway - what did you end up getting in terms of fruit? I would hope they threw some stuff in for you....

I only got a 3.0d with innovation, sunroof, 3rd row seats, running bds but it is a 2010 build. I thought it ok with $11K off, but yours is at least $20K off list, and as it turns out you'll get a 2010 build as well. Is this a typical discount?

Sounds like you've had lots of problems though.....

If you drive the same you'll use about the same amount of fuel. If, however, you access the extra power now available, you'll use more fuel.

Yep .. enough problems for BMW to say we'll get you a new one

if there was a 2009 alpine white 35d new then they would have put me into that ..but they were all gone .. so the only thing they could really do was offer 2010 model ..with innovation ..so they split the innovation price with me ($3k)

my 2009 35d deal was great - but now that I have the 2010 coming its fantastic deal - in saying that the 40d is not that far away so now I'm really glad i've got 2010 coming otherwise I'd be 2 years (MY) out of date within the space of 6 months !!

I would have loved to wait for 40d but July/Aug too far away (I would have wanted to test drive before ordering) + I suspect 40d on the road with minimal 'fruit' added will be something like $130 - $140k (list $110k, + on road, + roof/sidesteps/xenons/USB for ipod, auto tailgate, BMW protection pack) ...I don't think they'll be much discounting going on in the first 6 months ....

so I'll wait for 2012 ;)

Anyone in Aus had their stereo amp/speakers upgraded by non-BMW?
 

Just wondering if there's an option to have the amp and speakers upgraded at someplace like JB - the standard one is a bit crap to be honest ..and now that I have it its too late to premium etc ..thoughts:dunno:

Hi all, good to see healthy Oz based discussion, in any case, im just in the process of selling the 335, and getting my wife into an X5. Do know that the new/updated model is coming out some time over the next 6 months, so am considering it as well as a current demo, she's not a fast driver and i think the 3.0d would suit her fine, am wondering the following:

what is the general real world consensus on the 3.0d v 3.5d? worth the extra $

what should i aim for as a price guide. on a black exec 3.0d with sports pack innovation and glass roof, not too fussed on the 20".

If you aren't especially looking for performance, I don't think the 35d is worth the extra. The 30d is still a very strong performer. For most most everyday driving there's not a lot between the two. The best thing about the 35d is its extra top-end muscle. It's also a little more flexible off idle as well but the 30d is far from weak in that area. Don't get me wrong, the 35d is a great car but one that will be more appreciated by a hard driver.

Don't forget the 30d is also a simpler device (single turbo vs two turbos) and is a tiny bit more economical.

thats the same conclusion that i have, she'd be hard pressed to tell the difference anyway. and the saving is hopefully substantial.
