"all week since the front tires for my 4.8is are on backorder" interesting..i have had a 335i all week because of that same reason....not that i mind the 335i has been a blast to drive around

i like how the cayenne s was just used, try the king , (cayenne turbo s )
it will beat the jeep in all ways..the jeep is like any american "fast car" fast in a straight line only ...like a viper lol.

Cayanne S? Those stats are for the Turbo S. Weight and poor power band kill performance, thus the Cayanne isn't that quick. The turbo S is a terd off the line and between gears.

Also the Jeep took first place in One Lap of America in the SUV division. The Viper also holds several records so I wouldn't say it only goes in a straight line. The problem with American cars is they have tight/ short gearing with lots of low-end torque on typically rear biased cars. On the street they love to oversteer, yet get them on the track and they will often do great.

I hate to sound like an American car fan especially when I own 8 German cars, 1 Japanesse car and 1 Amercian car, however, sometimes we need to set aside out bias and actually test one in in real life.

Well...i guess because for some of us, our affinity for autos or performance reaches beyond BMW.

I know, i know...should'a started another thread, right?

i have driven both. the cayenne was better in my book. the cayenne 0-60 is something like 4.7 and does what a 170ish..i would say its quick. whatever said its always going to be just a "jeep". its like a boxter-it might be great but its the "poor mans porsche.." a jeep even if it could fly wouldnt be seen in the top like the german 3 are..

Cutting under a 5sec 0-60 is cake for the Jeep. In fact most auto reviews were getting results of 4.3-4.5 wet or dry. Its all about its ability to preload the torque convertor when launching it. I'm sure the new 6.4l engine will be fast, however, one American car is enough for me. To me the Jeep is like the CLK63 black series. Both vehicles serve no other purpose other then to put a smile on the owners face. Of course the Cayenne can off road, go 170+, haul around god know what, etc... however with a vehicle like the CLK black series or Jeep SRT8, you only buy it for one purpose. To mash the throttle and hold on.

As for getting the axe? I don't believe so. The entire SRT lineup sells pretty well for Chrysler, however, without Mercedes, I'm not sure how the R&D will do as most of the driveline parts, transmission, etc... were sourced from the AMG 55/65 series as they can handle all that torque at lower rpms.

I agree. The front and center exhaust looks good on the Jeep, however, the 4.8is is easily the best looking SUV around.
I like mine X5 in black, however, I love how the 4.8is looks in silver. My 4.6is was silver, but front didn't didn't look aggressive enough.

The car under the dust cover is a 1965 Porsche 356c.
