Figured he was just being lazy.. But really, even if he did put it on paper.. That means absolutely nothing so I never really bothered with it..

Having a piece of paper that says, 1st allocation isn't worth the paper it's written on. I was going off his word.. He lied, he lost my business.

Like I said, it's not a big deal to me. It's not like I'm tortured driving around in a BMW 750i. Nor am I the type the needs to have it first..

At least now I'm in a better position to wait and negotiate a better price at a lower money factor.. I can also find out what options people are happy with and I can check out dealer demos to see if I want upgraded leather, etc..

So really, in a lot of ways I'm better off without first allocation. Yes, I would have liked it sooner rather than later.. I've waited long enough for a X5 ///M.. but a few more months won't kill me.

Registration taxes in Cali, you don't get refunds if it's partial.. Even if it's just a day. This state needs all the money it can get.

Not sure about property taxes.

And it's not very often I hear about BMW's having engine problems.. So I'm not really concerned that the ///M will have any issues.. And if they do, I'm sure they will be handled under the warranty.

THE PLOT THICKENS....

So I decided to call another dealer who I have a relationship with but unfortunately is 3000 miles away.
- I told him my story about the deposit and paying my registration on the 7 series...

He told me.. "I have a car if you want it AND I'll cover your registration payment and shipping costs... 1st allocation car, it's built, waiting on delivery."

Silverstone Metallic
Black Merino
Cold Weather Pkg
Driver Assistance Pkg
Premium Sound
Power Tailgate
Comfort Access
High Gloss Roof Rails
Piano Black Trim
Satellite Radio with 1 year sub.
Launch supply

Should I get it?

Also... Was told that the option for the X6M wheels on the X5M doesn't seem to be an option for US vehicles.. That may be a Euro option but it doesn't seem to exist in the United States..

It makes sense - you are better off. Good to get all the insight and info from others.

It's one great vehicle - you are going to love it.

If it had everything I wanted I'd go for it - if it was missing something that I would possibly regret later I'd consider waiting to get exactly what I wanted.

I can't think of anything that it doesn't have that I want.

Except for maybe the X6M wheels, which I don't think is available option in the US.
I didn't really care about the cold weather pgk, but the car having it is not really a problem for me.

I actually think it's optioned pretty closely to what I want..

Don't want Full Merino
Don't want ventilated seats
Don't want soft close doors..

What else is there?

I don't know the available options for this vehicle but if the color is right, I'd go for it then based on your response.

3000 miles away is no big deal if they are paying shipping - that's probably $1500-$1700 bucks I'd guess. You are probably going to have them take detailed pictures of the paint from all angles to make sure there are no scrapes or scratches - sounds like there's nothing left to do but go for it.

I rarely have good experiences with dealers so it's nice to see another dealer come through. Sounds like you may have a sweet deal on your hands pal. I don't quite understand why the wheels wouldn't be an option

You can try some other dealers closeby as well. Market is not that hot for X5 M. I stopped by a dealer on my drive home and he is giving $2400 off. Right now market is for under $45k cars.
