If you have a good welder, then have it welded up, add reinforcements (on both sides) and reinstall.
However, while that motor is out, I'd replace all the pesky seals/gaskets/etc. You know if you don't that oil gasket behind the alternator will leak the first day you get the X5 back.

I think you are probably right that the bracket came loose for some reason. That is not something that should happen. The motor mount should give up before the bracket.
Do you have pieces that broke off the block?

Well I fixed it. Ended up replacing the motor with a super clean 80k mile motor.
If anyone needs parts, I have a complete engine I'm parting out. All parts are goo except for the block. Engine ran perfectly when I removed it. |
