Well that's a horse of a different color. She won't let me do anything to her exhaust. I thought about adding a butterfly cut-off valve and hiding the switch where she wouldn't look, like on the dash. and not telling her about it, something just for me.

This morning I learned that the A arm bushing on one side has cracked. The front felt sloppy when going over small imperfections in the road and if you're familiar with Seattle, that's just what we call roads. So I took it in and they said "Oh, you need a subframe bushing too"
I found this odd since when doing the suspension refresh, (about a month and a half ago) I bought all new subframe bushings and asked them to be installed. I was told by the tech "no need, they all look great and on e53's they never go out" so I didn't have them done. Guess how I feel about that tech now. I think he's the guy who did the PPI on this truck when we first put an offer on it and missed that the guibo was held together by hopes and dreams so I should have just trusted my gut and had it all done when I took it to the shop to do it the first time. Luckily I had all the parts they needed so I save some $ there but was told 4hrs labor for the A arm bushing and 6 for the subframe. I hate that I don't have a garage! |

My subframe bushings I did last year and they fell apart when I took them out and I had 75k at the time

How long did it take you? I'm being billed 2hrs a side for the A-arm bushings (figured replace them both) and 6hrs for the subframe, all 4.

6 hours for the subframe is laughable. I think with taking a beer and a stogie break it only took me an hour an a half per side and I don't have a lift and take my time.
Bend the rear exhaust hanger, fit the tool on each bushing, wind out the old, wind in the new, do the other bushing, torque the 2 bolts, and bend back the exhaust hanger and go to the other side. But I do understand book time.

Is there a particular DIY write-up out there that you used for this?

You could give South Lake European a call and see what they'd charge. That's who I usually use. They are all bimmer guys. They run a couple Pro3 cars.

Thanks for the heads-up but it's already @ precision motorwerks in 15th. Your guys in Renton are about 40 minutes away and with the protests planned for today, I'd get there about Tuesday with the added traffic.
