That backfired badly : the Bosch lasted one drive.

Turns out prob because they used Chinese VR on the reman but it turned me off of Bosch and I’m back to Valeo.

I would be ok with NEW Bosch but I’d still be leery of using just from getting burned.

That's good to know! As far as I can tell, the air ducting and VR connector should all connect the same, right? When I took out my alternator to change the OFHG, I couldn't remember which one I have. I was thinking about going to a wrecking yard and picking up a spare.

The two brands are direct swap.

Ahh crap have to take out the Alternator to change OFHG? Damn that's my next task on my car. So tired of changing alternator.

I just replaced every moving part that holds either front or back wheel in place except shock tower bearings. First time for my car but on wife's e53 her control arms were replaced regularly.

The annoying part was just that the last time I had to replace twice in a row. Literally died after one drive

Sucks doesn't it? Now do 25 to 50 percent of it again in six months and try to convince your wife that you're doing some "other" maintenance...

At least I can get under the car now as opposed to the Zamboni days

I think I removed the alternator to gain better access to the OFHG and to clean up the residual area as best as I could. In addition, I replaced the VANOS oil supply line that hangs on the OFH because the line was original and I wanted piece of mind.

i bought the full OFHG kit from fcp euro, it includes all bolts and the oil line mentioned.
