What did you use? Hard wiring or via coding? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

He did it all via coding.

since this thread is completely about turn signals, can anyone tell me how PWM is coming into play here
LED is fine on turn signal wire with low beam off When i turn on low beams, something must be going that is feeding a different PWM on th the turns as the LED fritzes out I'm thinking with lows off, and it's just full on 12V when u engage the turns. With the low beams on, the 12V PWM is cycling on the turn signal wire. Last edited by jsoto; 01-10-2019 at 09:26 PM. |

Really curious to know how. After just researching LED upgrades for the halos everyone's ones goal was to achieve how the newer BMW halos looked and how much brighter they were no matter which LED they used. The strongest 10w ones were bright but still dim compared to the newer models.
And it had a lot to do with the how the fiber optics for the halos were designed in the first place on the e53/e39 vs e70/60/90. Basically they never designed it to be drls so that is why there is no coding option on the lcm. By law DRL has to be a certain brightness and since maybe this technology was still new they couldn't achieve it or couldn't fit it in the confined space and design of already existing housing design. Also if you see the bulbs they used on e53/39 is a tiny bulb vs the H8 used on e70/60/90. On my e70 the coding option is right there and can even adjust the voltage to adjust the brightness. Turning off turn signals as park lights?
Also something else I learned, by law/regulation taillights cannot be moved and must be fixed to the car. So since we have a opening lower hatch those lights don't light up as brake lights and maybe the reason the e53 didn't get the cool celis tails like the e39 during the facelift lol. Maybe at the time they just couldn't bother with it.
But they figured it out for the e70, would love to have this style on my e53. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I don’t know what he did but it works. The halos are not DRLs, they just turn on when you put the parking lights on just them not the amber bulbs. Also the tail light thing, doesn’t make sense because e39 wagons have celis tails. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
