If I ever own another e53 that needs a new HU, I think I will not get an Xtrons. I can't stand not being able to have at least some kind of support from the manufacturer. That is really the biggest disappointment for me. I always have a lot of questions and like to be able to, at the very least, get and email from someone?
Thanks for checking! After further communication with them, the voltage should be between 2.8v and 3.3v, so I am definitely having some issues here. I got offered the options to either ship my unit back in for replacement or get a refurbished replacement. Have to figure out what the best option would be so that I am without my head unit for as little time as possible.

Can’t argue with you there, the support is not the best, but I am happy that after a few weeks I am getting close to a solution then again, for the price, I think this was the best option out there. Wasn’t a big fan of the look of the AVIN one for example.

So my HU has the built in DSP EQ. 30 frequencies to mess with, it's insane. It seems pretty damn solid but it's also a lot to mess with.

I also bought the DSP license with my Resler IBus. This apparently allows the factory DSP processor to work as it should with the aftermarket HU's.

AND, I also have the new UI running (which is great except for a few issues) and it has IT'S own DSP levels!

Soooo. For those of you with these parameters (maybe just the first two?) do you find that the two are fighting each other? Which DSP EQ are you using? Can one or two be cancelled out by another? This is crazy.

I don't drive the X much but we are ditching the A4 soon and this will be the wife's daily. Since we both enjoy music a lot I want to get the sound decent with the factory system. I am typically an aftermarket guy but there are just too many damn speakers in this thing to replace! Right now the front is so bright it's hard to listen to. I am wondering if the window mids are shot. It's just harsh to listen to. And I feel the soundstage is way out front as well. Not balanced as it should be. I just read for about an hour or so and the DSP system and it's flaws and I agree with most of it. I am planning on using my sound level meter to see if I can nail a sweet spot. If so, I'll post my settings.

Still waiting on my 6m antenna for the radio!

I did not opt for the DSP option in my Avant-4 since I already have factory DSP but AVIN tells you to put all the standard EQ settings in the Avant-4 to flat and make any sound tuning and adjustments in the DSP settings in the iBus app.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks, man. I’ll try that later today and see if that helps.

A newby question, my X5 is 2003 and has no DSP. Can I have DSP whatever DSP is if I install a head unit?

Digital Sound Processor.

If I am correct, you would have to find a factory DSP amp and install it. Then your new HU would be able to send and receive the signal to the amp. The HU will have the controls to manipulate the EQ and sound field.

Just an educated guess.

You can add DSP but it is not as straightforward as just adding the head unit with the DSP button. You would need the rear radio unit (the head unit is really just a display), the DSP amp and a completely different harness as the DSP utilizes the speakers differently than the hi-fi or non- hi-fi units. In short, it would be a significant amount of work and (probably) rather costly.

You’d likely be further ahead to pop in a good Avin, Xtron, Eonon, etc and let the dream of DSP go.

Depends on what's in the car right now.

My car has only the base 6 speaker system, so in my case, I bet retro-fitting a full DSP system would improve the sound enourmously, at a huge cost (in time/effort/$$).

If I ever fit an android HU, it won't be for the sound, that's fo' sure.
