As was said, it would likely be a “significant” improvement over the stock unit, but again, with a large price tag and extensive amount of work. You would (likely) be further ahead to simply replace the speakers that you have with new technology speakers from today, better mids, highs, and mid-bass speakers and add tour own subbox. Cost would probably be similar, but the work effort involved would be half and the sound would be amazing.

I personally have the alpine hi-fi system in my car and I can say that I LOVE car audio and simply adding the factory subbox, modified to hold a Sony 10” sub and an amp was a WOW difference

Look up some of the posts on here about modding the factory box and tapping the high level outputs to add a sub, all in all pretty straight forward and a HUGE improvement over stock. Unless you’re up for removing huge chunks of the interior, in my opinion, it’s the way to go.

Have to figure out what the best option would be so that I am without my head unit for as little time as possible.

Can’t argue with you there, the support is not the best, but I am happy that after a few weeks I am getting close to a solution then again, for the price, I think this was the best option out there. Wasn’t a big fan of the look of the AVIN one for example.
So thought I would share an update:

After some more back and forth with their support, we have come to a solution. I will be sending my broken head unit to them this week and in return they will send me a refurbished back as a replacement. All in all, it might not be ideal, but I think it‘s pretty reasonable. Hopefully the replacement will arrive quickly and won‘t have issues.

Received and attempted to install my radio antenna but I am not getting any stations except for the Christian station and the Mexican music station. I don’t listen to either so not real thrilled about that.

I have tried both ports and it doesn’t change the reception at all. Am I at the right spot of this complicated system for the antenna to connect to?

Answered my own question. That, I believe, is the NAV receiver that I had originally posted with the antenna wire connected to it. The actual radio recover is in the following pictures. You’ll see where I have the new antenna clipped in to the old one. As soon as it snapped in the stations tuned in.

So, the aftermarket HU antennas plug into the factory plug here in the trunk of the X at the original head unit receiver. Only took an hour on the internet to find it.

Some words of wisdom from a now veteran Xtrons installer:

Be sure to order and install the radio antenna at the time of install when you have the whole interior torn apart

If you don’t do the antenna during the initial install ( be sure to do it then )if you run it down the drivers side it will be closer to the radio in the trunk where you will be attaching it to the factory antenna. It isn’t long enough to run all the way down the side to the trunk so see the pictures posted and run it under the back seat along the battery cable. There is no interference along the cable so you won’t get feedback.

Run a coax cable as a preemptive addition for that amp you’ll ultimately be installing along with the new subwoofer.

Get the external mic and install. Did I mention the factory mic sucks?

So with those words of wisdom, go forth and conquer your old HU with a new Android HU!

Yes, the internal mic was also an issue on my Avant-4. I ran the external mic to the ultrasonic alarm module above my head. Perfect clarity on the other end of my calls.

Another update:

Full points to XTRONS customer support! Few days ago I got my replacement unit, the whole exchange with shipping took 6 business days. The new unit works perfectly now! Absolutely no screen issues and GPS connects in a heartbeat. Hoping this will be a long term one now

Great to hear! I have still never heard from them on my questions I asked weeks ago.

I am still up in the air about my opinion on this new HU. It is so buggy! Sometimes the Resler app opens no problem, mostly it does not. I have changed the USB port several times and it still acts the same way.

For no reason at all, the sound quit. Haven't driven it since then.

Takes a long time to load. I know I have the lesser amount of RAM but I don't have a bunch of stuff loaded that it needs to wait on. I had to disable the folding mirror option because it wouldn't be loaded by the time I wanted to leave?! Too bad. too. I like that option.

Reaching across the screen to fiddle with options is sketchy too.

Guess I am old school, but I miss the knobs for volume and control.

And I still haven't figured out the best sound with the DSP. I think I may have some bad speakers?

I had to revert back to the old UI as I could not figure out how to get the radio to show up!? Seems like that should be easy. And the Resler app, when it would actually open, would always go to it's home screen. Then I would have to fool with it to get back to the radio. Really frustrating.

Aside from that, it's okay.....
