Using some hole saws and blocks of plywood looks like a very promising start. This is Not a very high force situation like the rear ball joints. You can probably use PVC pipe couplers and a piece of plywood with a hole cut in the middle of it.

Hey...that's ingenuity! That's much better than what I did on my xfer case bushing. It was about 1/2" not fully seated. I ended up just hitting it with a dead-blow hammer and get it to move about 1/4" and pretty much gave up. It was "close-enough" but would've wanted it fully seated. Your idea works much better!

Makes sense. I'll see what I can find that might do it.
