Did you pull up test six before adding fuel? You said it transferred bit that's just gravity when the right hits 1.4 any extra just floods over to the left.
If you key on/key off you should hear the pump run for a few seconds each time. This will pump fuel up to the filter FPR and back to the left tank to siphon fuel left to right. When the system is working more fuel than is consumed will go left to right keeping the right overflowing. If the siphon not working the pump will move fuel right to left until the pump starves and the engine quits.

Hey, Yes I ran the test prior to putting the fuel in, it read at 1.4, and then after popping the fuel in it went up, and back down again (gravity fed as you mentioned) There was definitely no sounds coming from the fuel tank at all |

Pre-facelift M57 or facelift M57N engine?
Like said check the fueling issue first for potential in tank fuel pump failure by checking the levels from cluster hidden menu or just by filling up with at least 10 litres. When you turn ignition to pos. 2 can you hear the pumps (in tank and inline) running and are there air bubbles on the engine bay fuel line (if pre-facelift). Very very unlikely ignition switch has anything to do with stalling/no start situation.

Its the pre facelift, But from my knowledge they both ran the same pumps and set up, RealOEM seems to confirm this also unless I'm missing something all ranges of the E53 3.0D used the same gear. I mentioned above it's been tested for any sound with ears on the sender unit itself and there is nothing. Well pumps on route and im picking up the solus pro tomorrow, I'm going to try and force a pump test using the solus diagnostics tools to see if it'll run in test if it doesn't then I know its dead. If it does run however then I may need to lean toward EWS but I'll deal with that when it comes to it. Speaking of EWS/Keys etc. Anyone have any idea of my original posts issues around the key locking the car but no unlocking it, Manually unlocking causes hazards to flash I'm assuming this is how it should be when it's locked remotely and opened manually? I'm going to throw the button under my scope and see if any solder has cracked on the button itself. - EDIT: Think I found the lock/unlock culprit, Underside of the battery has come off the holder. Couldn't tell as the lock button is above it it works, but the unlock button is on the other end so wasn't pushing down on it enough it seems, will refix and test again! E53 3.0d Gremlins, Crank, No Start!
5000 hours with e10 gas is MTBF 4000 pure gas 6000 e20 (literally the only benefit of dilution of gas with food); it takes the calories of edible corn a years worth of calories to fill an SUV tank once. Yeah that makes sense!
Unfortunately the long term test of fuel pumps I found didn't include diesel or I forgot the MTBF.

Update - Lock Unlock Issue resolved - It was the battery harness popping off! Stupid thing.. When I was volt testing it was testing fine because I'd pressed down the damn thing. Anyway newer battery purchased with a wrap around harness on it so thats one issue fixed.
Checked Test 6 again just to double check and its 16.9/3.0 (I can only assume I mis read/remembered it yesterday or had not read it after it updated) - Car started breifly and cut off again fuel didn't move an inch so likely it's grabbing the small amount of diesel grav feeding into the injectors. I am now 99.99% sure the pump is the culprit, The fact there is no sound or vibration and the tank is not returning to 1.4L pretty much confirms it now. I will update tomorrow* when the new pump supposedly arrives! Thanks for the assists guys up to now it's been very insightful |

When there is enough fuel on the tank right (pump) side the suction of the inline pump alone should be enough for running the engine. If you can't hear either of the pumps running when you turn on ignition there is something wrong on the pumps' voltage supply. Both pumps have voltage supply from the same relay. On diesels the fuel pumps are running for 60 sec when ignition is turned to pos. 2 and shut out after that period if engine is not running.

Or the main pumps the only one that's been running all this time and has now failed aswell, So potentially both pumps have failed now, that might even explain why the main pump failed in the first place due to overwork! I did run the light up tester and pump main is getting voltage, I've also tried and tested a couple of known working relays and no joys there. Pumps on it's way now anyway but I will take a look/test the inline pump also to see if there is any luck. I should mention the fuse is fine and tests fine also. Also are you sure it's 60s? Andrew above said it was about 6s? |

Yes, it's 60 sec on diesels. Also mentioned on the instructions to bleed the fuel supply for example after renewing fuel filter.
