Don't you have to live south of the Mason-Dixon line to be a redneck? How about "blueneck" for those of us up north dere eh?

Would my new 3.0 have a reasonable exhaust tone if I removed the resonator and mufflers & ran straight pipes? Has anyone actually done this yet on a 4.4, 4.8 or 3.0? Would it be too much of a reduced backpressure that the computer couldn't compensate?

If you search the forum you will find lot of people have removed resonator on 4.4, 4.8 and 3.0

Exhaust mods in TODAY's ECU driven systems are not as 'computer' dependent as operating parameters, etc., tend to be built in to the ECU which adjust for overall flow characteristics as well as emissions (provided you leave O2 sensors, etc), intact. since we are not RACE tuning (reference X54.4blue your posts on BIMMERFEST about people not modding X5s to run on the track) nor driving on the track, I don't understand what is your concern re the ECU. (*NOTE THIS IS NOT ASKING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. JUST A STATEMENT.) My Eisenhaus custom RACE exhaust was built by a tuner that definately knows about tuning; I have complete confidence that their exhaust system is built to teutonic standards. that is not to say that we can't build our own magnaflo or flowmaster exhausts just the same. My 2001 M Roadster has MAGNAFLO custom exhausts on board, and those sound and perform really nice as well.

Let's try (those one or two of you -- you KNOW who I am talking to) to keep this thread above board.

Also, since my father is from South Carolina, that makes me 1/2 red neck. so lets let the red neck comments come from professionals like Jeff Foxworthy, ok? consider this a friendly 'hi ya'll"!

I don't think calling a person a “Red Neck” is a big insult, in fact some people are quite proud of being a “Red Neck”, isn’t their a song about it?

With regard to a the exhast mod, I think a pro grade is a lot different than skicking on some after market product.
