CLEANER YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!
I was having the same whistling sound issue and was getting anoyed by it. I thought I was going to have to live with it (I was also told by a BMW tech that it was normal) and just turn up the volume on the stereo so I wouldn't have to hear it. So after reading this thread I went to check on that hose that Cleaner mentions and lo and behold it had a rip on the bottom side. I had to feel around the hose because from looking at it from above it seemed fine, but then I found a rip on the bottom side of the hose that I could even fit my finger on... I took it to the dealership this morning to get it replaced and I just picked it up... so far NO NOISE!!!!! I believe this is the solutions to this problem that many of us X5 owners are experiencing.... I also got the steering wheel trim replaced also, (was having the plastic film peeling issue), and got it all done under warranty.... I hope this helps and thanks a lot Cleaner!!! |

I have the whistling sound as well, sounds like almost like a turbo whistle, but I checked the all the parts and found no cracks or damage.

I hope that my liberal bath of Armor-All after my quarterly engine wash will keep all the plastics and rubbers in the engine bay nice and soft to prevent cracking like this.

Never used the stuff before, so I wouldn't have anything to compare it with.

The best part about it is that its not shiny and sticky, brings out a very dull shine. |
