It seems like this comes up quite a bit, a false self level susp. inact warning. I'm sure the sensors in the bumper can go bad, but I am convinced that the problem is commonly related to batter voltage fluctuation. Try charging the battery completely or replacing it with on Odyssey or similar if yours is getting old.

As someone mentioned here before...I would check the fuse first. This happened to me not too long ago and it turned out that the the 35amp fuse needed to be replaced.

electrical nightmare 02' x5 4.4

3 days ago the self leveling warning came on. it happened a few years ago and went off next time i started the truck. yesterday when i started the the truck the level warning was still on and the radio wouldnt turn on. Nav worked but no sound. when i shut off and took key out there was a buzzing from under the dash. i had to put key in and turn on/off a few times to get it to stop. WTF!! today i have a dead battery. monday going to the shop ( i guess my mechanic gets another tuition payment for his kids). at this point, i'm hoping it catches fire overnight. any ideas?

Well, I cleaned my MAF sensor today, to get rid of my emissions light. So I disconnected the battery, so big deal. Reconnected, and the emissions light is gone, thank god, however the SELF LEVELLING INACTIVE warning is now on. The car is level, and it wasn't on prior to the disconnect. Anyone had similar?

I have driven it, turned it off, turned it on, dc the battery again and it's still the same. It is very annoying. Car rides the same, feels the same too.

Does anyone know if the self-leveling suspension will still work if it can't communicate with the cluster? I had the warning on before I let the car sit and now it won't raise back up. I'd like to know if it's the computer or possibly an issue with the connection to the cluster. All my fuses are fine.

Yeah, I checked my fuses. Have just disconnected the batt again and I will leave it for an hour disconnected to see if it helps. Maybe I wasnt leaving it dc for long enough.

if you have a 4.4 you probably have the rear air. ever have your spare out? notice the big black bell under the spare? the compressor is in there. or you can look under the back and see the air bags. try doing a reset. disconnect both battery cables wait 30 mins and connect. that fixes alot of things

After having the neg off for about 3 hours, hooked it up, still got the problem. So disconnected the pos now too, will wait about an hour then try again.

Where abouts is the relay? And how do I test it?
