Great!!

Nice, I have about 230,000 miles on my 02 x5 3.0! Original tranny and never had the fluid flushed! One thing that does suck however is the amount of oil this thing burns up. I have to drive around with a gallon of castrol syntec everywhere i go... One thing I have realized DO NOT EVER USE MOBIL 1 on beemers!!! it will ruin your engine!

It's always reassuring to hear about 3.0s that are up high in the mileage. I'm at 104,000 in my '02 3.0. I have not changed my trans fluid and so far so good. I've debated doing a partial flush, complete flush, and have decided not leave it alone. I too seem to burn some oil but apparently not as much as yours.

Please explain why you claim Mobil 1 will ruin a BMW engine. I'm curious as I have never heard this.

From what I have noticed on my 01 330i (167,000 miles) and 02 x5 (230,000 miles) they both began consuming oil after I got a few oil changes using mobil 1 synthetic oils.

Damn, my cousin has an E60 and an indi used Mobile 1 a FRAM!!!!! filter. I was pissed for him. I use only BMW oil on the BMW and Mobile 0w40 on Merc. OEM filters, nothing less.
I have a strange oil burning situation with my 3.0i; some weeks it will go though nearly half a quart, then it will go a month with not a drop of consumption?? it is so random.
Approaching 100k on the X, and have been debating almost every day on wether to do partial trans flush. I may just leave it alone.

Mine will be there soon!

I'm not there yet, but will be soon! I have a 2004 3.0 with 171,000 miles and I am very happy with my car! I have replaced the battery, tires, brakes, fuel pump and had a carbon deposit clean out on the car. I keep pretty tight to the maintenance schedule and always make sure to change the oil regularly. This car gets driven unmercifully daily and just keeps going...it is the best car I have ever owned. I am definately an X-5 fan!!

My 01 X5 has done 149k and the only problem has been this self leveling supension light issue so really love my
X5 and been very reliable. Never let me down had from 5000K

Good to hear we're pushing them. My plan is to push my 4.4 out to 300K. If I can do that without a major powertrain issue I'll be happy. I may change out the valve covers this weekend as well as finally getting to those heater hoses. I've got the SLS light as well but plan on swapping out the air for coilovers on all four corners. I'd rather spend the money on springs than chasing a moving target for 3K+

Wow, this is great. Our X5 is up to 1392_1. (Pixle lost problem) Other than regular fluid changes (Royal Purple 5w30) and a few window regulators, brakes, this is still a great looking and driving vehicle.
