99,200 miles on my '02 3.0. So far, I had the oil seperator freeze up and blow the valve cover gasket very messy-- at 82,000 miles.

I changed the trans fluid to m1 at 96,000 miles... made a big difference in the shifting.

I have some oil consumption 1 qt in 2,000 miles. Probably some blow by, I'm afraid to change the weight of the oil on this engine since BMW is so strict about oil weights and brands. I'm using M1 0w-40 at 7500 oci.

The car is awesome, I hope to keep it to 200,000 miles or 6 more years.

Our X5 just broke 66k on our 2003 3.0i last week. Our last big repair was back in January when we replaced the oil separator and the front transmission seal and rear main seal at 57k miles. This and a fan clutch assembly at 52k miles were the big repairs and everything else was a wear item that would need to get replaced over time. Our X5 has been trouble free for its whole life and I hope we get many more trouble free miles.

112k on '00 4.4i, original tranny, original tranny fluid...

@100k, replaced valley pan gasket, spark plugs... runs smooth like a champ... also have replaced oxy sensor, cam sensor, and other miscellaneaous items (e.g., 2 window regulators)...

I'm a firm believer in religiously maintaining a car.

So...to get this kind of mileage, are people following the maint. schedule, or doing extra?

Also, seems like 4.4 can crank out the miles like the 3.0. I would want to guess that an inline motor is more robust for the long haul than a V engine--but I'd really like to get a 4.4 and seems they both hold their own. When it comes to problems, is it just luck of the draw on any particular vehicle?

177,000 miles and racking 'em up quickly. Mostly highway miles so things like swaybar links are just starting. Did do the RF axle due to CV boot tear but that's expected.

New plugs last week helped considerably, new air filter too but old was not so old. Noticed slight oil from VCG when changing the plugs but not a big deal.

Thanks to all who post here I am happy to keep my X5 until I'm just tired of it but nothing beats the drive and feel of BMW!

Happy Motoring All

04 3.0i premium 130K
Oil change according to the gauge
Differential/Tranny Oil replaced every other engine oil change
Sparkplugs, W/P, belts replaced at 100K
Knocking on Wood Trims, no problems at all~ except the rear light always need adjustment and cannot lock into place. Original Window regulators ^.^ (I lock all the windows so no one can open them! )
