You can buy the entire line for ~$25 from Mike at thebmwpartstore.com and try to swap the entire connector. However the blue fuel line isn't very flexible and i would worry swapping out the end wouldnt guarantee a good seal. I would suggest swapping the entire line.

I have called about them and got pricing, but that's a better price with Mike.
The issue I am having now is that more than likely I will have to drop the tank to change all three lines - correct? I can't get that black cover completely off! And how easy is it to bring the tank down? |

So wanted to share my experience from this last night.
Finding those bolts for the HUGE ASS cover was sort of a paint the first time around. Got it done, dropped it down. I don't think it can come out all the way, the exhaust is in the way on one corner. Either way, more than enough room to work under there. So I have the clips on my fuel filter. Push them in, got the new filter hanging there in about 5 seconds. That vac line was a bitch. I scuffed it up a bit, but cut off the damaged part, and was able to reuse it. Put everything back together, and guess what, the car won't start for shit. Tried to start it a million times, well maybe more like 20 times, but nothing. Started to think that I don't have enough fuel, especially since the car was on ramps on the drivers side. Went to a gas station to get fuel. 2 Gallons in, and still won't start. Rolled the car off the ramps, still won't start. At this point I am bugging out. Must have kinked that vac line or something. I'm usually careful with these things, but something wasn't right. Squeeze my self under the car again, and drop that damn cover, now it's tight to work under there. Open it up, everything looks good. SHIT. Go to the trash can, take out the old filter, and put it back in. Son of a bitch, it started on half crank. Crap. Crap. Crap. Time to call ECS and get the OE filter. This Mahle filter is BS. I bet the regulator was not letting fuel pass through it. When I went to take off the fuel lines from the IN side, both had so much pressure, that they PSSSSSTT, popped off after depressing the clip. The OUT side, no fuel came out. Shit. I have to use the damn F150 till I get the replacement. I don't want to put that cover back up, only to take it down again. I got owned by the first non OE part that I ever purchased. Goes to show you, don't listen to sales people who tell you they don't put OE parts if something else is available. |

SlickGT1 - I'd flip that fuel filter if it is sitting on that much pressure but having zero flow it sounds like the filter (which is a one way filter) is reversed. We haven't had any of issues with any of the filters listed HERE for the 4.8is.

When installing, I even made sure to disconnect one line, and connect it to the new filter. Disconnect next line, connect to filter, and so on. Reason for this is to minimize fuel spillage in the garage. I was so confident with the install, that I buttoned it up without starting the car. Now, when I took the new filter off, I put back the old filter same way, and the car fired up instantly. Edit. Ok I think you probably meant to say that the return line, and the feed line are reversed. I though that could be the case as well. So I swapped them around, same thing, new filter seems shot, more to the point, the pressure regulator seems shot. I don't get how this is even possible. Ok firstly, I need to say that ECS, (whats your name anyway?), you were correct. I dropped the ball hard core.
I called my bud who works on bimmers. Told him the situation. He said that I probably didn't realize what I unplugged, and what I plugged into which port laying on the floor. I gave it some thought, and I have to agree. I had to use one hand to push the clip, one to pull the line. Then I swapped it by feel to the new filter. At least that is what I am thinking now. So I get home, take the new filter, and this time pay attention to each line, and where I am plugging it into. Well, the car likes it, and started first crank. Dagnamit, $%^%@@#^O($*%^. I can't believe it. Even after I tried to swap the lines around, I must have connected them back the same F$@#IN way. SHIT. Well ECS sorry for bitching about the mahle filter. It seems to be working fine. As a matter of fact, it actually looks nearly identical to the BMW one, marking and all. Oh and by the way all, the old filter, I went to drain it, and the fuel that was coming out of there, was not a good color. Not clear like the fuel you get at the pump. I know, I just had the pleasure of using my emergency can. The fuel coming out of the old filter was dark blackish. You can clearly tell. It looked like dirty puddle water. So I don't know if its worth it doing it, but can't hurt. |

Slick glad it worked out! Seems we both had problem issues with such a simply job. I finally had a work around to my breaking those darn black connectors! Dry as a whistle. I am loving that $1600 Inspection II save so I will just clean my nails and be happy.
