Pulled BT Module and Have Q

We just purchased a 2004 X5 3.0

So far I love it...

I've spent a great deal of time looking around different forums with regard to Bluetooth...Finally decided to see what the heck module I actuall have in the car.

Pulled it out...This is what I have.

Is this BT o not? If so how the heck do I pair my phone with it...

Many thanks in advance.

you got very lucky, as your 04 was produced in the latter half of the year and you do have bluetooth, the passcode for pairing is 1049, just hold down the phone key (the face) on your steering wheel when you turn on the car and it should say activate phone, then you will put your phone in pairing mode and it will find the car and ask for the key, which is your PK.

this is how i paired my car's bluetooth, but there are many variants of how to do it depending on what year your car is and what options you have, so if this doesn't work report back and hopefully someone will have a solution.

When you say turn on the car...is that first clisk, second click or actually start it?

I actually started mine and buckled the seatbelt, that way the "Fasten Seatbelt" warning was off the display.

Darn...Tried that...None of the positions including the fasten seat belt gives me any indication that the car is in pairing mode.

I also tried seting my phone to both discoverabl and to add a device...It does not find one.

I should also mention that the car has Assist/SOS tha work as well...Maybe O don't have BT?

Although I swear thats a BT logo on that module that I pulled out (Carefully...Not unhooking anyting)

Do you have a pairing button in the ctr console? If not...I think you have the assist module. My buddy had the same situation in his and he bought a new 13 gen module fab'ed a pairing button and it works great.

The assist module is a BT phone so-to-speak the true BT modules are plug and play when replacing the assist module. Did you pop the mic out and see if you really have a mic there?

Better yet call your local BMW and ask them what you have

I have the same problem. I have a 2004 (08/04 build) X5 3.0. I have the Bluetooth module, antenna and the passkey with the owners manual. The car will not go into pairing mode. Sometimes, while driving, the red light on the MID will come on from time to time, but that's about it.

I gave up after a while. If you find something out, let us know.

Daniel
