Ahh, but I was referring to post #145 via post #143, vis a vie post #1, who was the original poster and was looking for a hitch. So I think I win. Though we should probably check with the judge in this case.

So anybody else with experience on an aftermarket hitch (drawtite/curtis) and the OEM wiring for light duty towing?

I understand it's nice to be able to pull the X5 potential of 6000lbs but I'll never tow anything over 1500-2000lbs. Also I ran a drawtite on our 2002 X5 and it was flawless after 3yrs. Anyway just my experience.

Thanks and safe towing!

Still say you are lucky tohave grabbed one of the original OEM hitches that were hiding in the back of a warehouse! How long till we see pics of the Z being toted behind the X?

Tell me about it. When I received mine I did NOT expect some humongous heavy box. When I looked at the homepage DIY to install it I was like ... damn! I'm not gonna remove the bumper just to put a boat anchor to weigh down my X.

Yeah and you'd be lugging that anchor around wherever you take the X....

Which would really make you think twice if you really need a tow hitch...

I wanted to initially get a tow hitch for extra storage that attaches to the tow hitch but have since just decided on a roof rack solution where I can take it off when not in use and there is no extra weight penalty...
