oh just to clarify I didn't mean that my review of the speakers may not be accurate, just that a comparison to his X5 wouldn't be

No sweat! I understood what you were getting at; I wanted to offer a little context for anybody else who might be reading.

Stick to your guns and listen to it in person. I have no experience with this company, but am automatically leary when you can't produce raving fans. More frightening is the weak quasi-legal privacy excuse.

In an economy like this why wouldn't you want referrals and testimonials on this board with its rabid BMW fans?

Reviews are on this very board and owners have posted in this thread. You can also check our website and reviews. I spoke with Ryan Dunn on many occasions. You may know him from Jackass on MTV He owns an X5 among other BMWs... Here is his review, taken right from the site:

"Author: R. Dunn
Man, all you had to say when i asked if i could use some of my stock
compnents(Focal) was...\that will mean a LOT more work, we engineered this kit to a tee, trust us\...something like that? My lord you guys cease to amaze me! This kit is georgous, really excited to install it. You prove again that you guys have got \all your ducks in a row\ and have yet to give me something to complain about(i love to complain...happiness bores me, hahaha). Ill let you know when it is in and the Little River Band are in their second set and looking awkward all standing on my dash. How many employees do you have? Wanna plan ahead for all the thank yous and hand shakes i have to dish out when i visit. Kudos! And kudos again!!"

That was not the only product Ryan got from us. We are not trying to hide anything. We don't want you to get stuck with something you don't want. You will be hard pressed to search the net and find a company that offers aftermarket upgrades and a 30 day guarantee. We don't have a restocking fee, we don't have red tape. We are on the forums, we are on chat, we are on the phone and have email. We are not here to rip you off and stick it to you.

Many of our customers are simply not on the forums. Sure there are customers on here and many other forums. However there were how many X5s sold in the US? How many are on this forum? Less than 1%? There are blogs on the net reviewing our drivers and installs as well. There are other forums reviewing our speakers for the X5 and many other BMWs. The bottom line is we are here to please and get the customer what they need. I have turned away customers and walked them through a purchase from another company. Why? Our stage 1 would not be for them. When you call or speak with us we first answer your questions and ask you some questions. We want to make sure our products will fit for you.

To be honest and up front I don't want the company I bought my coilovers from giving out my contact info to someone to come over to my house and ask for a ride in my car to see if they want to buy the same suspension. We simply are not giving out customer information. That is the bottom line.

I hope this shines some light on BSW and what we are here for. You can check the audio section on the forums. We have more post that have replies to threads that are not related to our products at all than us trying to sell something. We are here to help and product information

Holy Cow.

With me and audio, I have to listen or I don't buy. Period! And because I completely understand the guy's dilema, I was trying to get that point across to him.

As I think about it I probably should have left the other comments off. They took the conversation in a direction that was unintended and unnecessary.

I'm looking for a stereo upgrade. Should we do business I would want you to share my information with other auditory learners. What about a page on your site for folks who don't mind sharing their experience?

Anyway, I would love to stop by when I am in Atlanta (May2-7th) and check out some products. I need a DICE, and all new speakers. Plus I am looking into Nav upgrades or tossing this piece of crap Nav that came with my vehicle.

Well folks....and BSW Friends,

Thank you all for you help during this exercise.

I have personally listened to a kit installed in an x5 with a non dsp and JL sub. While it sounded different, I was not blown away as I had expected. Quite possible that BSW sub would make a difference or that your technology has changed since this installation, but what I witnessed the lacking impression was not low end clarity in this example.

However, for the money and simplicity the BSW solution might work for most. Being an audiophile and in the ultra high end home a/v business I was looking for a bit more from this kit. The amplification could be the issue as well. I was not looking to tear apart the car and start with customizing the enclosures or cleaning up the signals coming out of the head unit, but alas I may be forced to do that.

No hard feelings BSW......but for me you solution was not that compelling. . I would say this....for the less critical ear and budget conscious..it may be a great solution.

I say that, as I have not gotten a quote to go with a more custom solution. I have an apt to have the system reviewed by Home Page :: Ai Design next week.......GULP?

stay tuned.........

NyMench - did you go with any solution? I'm interested in picking up the BSW speaker package as well, after I finish with some of my other woes after Nav retrofit (euro harness issues now a NON-DSP car etc).

I'm installing an aftermarket amp and sub with custom box from Elemental Designs. Still interested in picking up the speakers for the car though.

BSW - if still subscribed to this thread, what is the difference with DSP and NON-DSP kits? connections or # of speakers provided etc? Reason is i no longer have the amp installed (no harness connectors) and will be replacing the sub.

Wink

Still stock at the moment. I was not impressed at all with the BSW in a no DSP car with the JL sub in the back.

I have a hard time paying for mediocrity just to have it now. And would much rather save more $$ and do i right the first time.....again for me and my ears.

I am not throwing dirt on BSW nor anyone who has them installed. It just not for me!
