I would not use any sort of lower output battery maintainer while coding.
As mentioned, an old school 6-10 Amp charger connected directly to the battery is probably a better option. Also for vehicles with cigarette lighter plugs that shut down when the car is off and you do not want to connect under the hood, you can use an OBDII port connector for Deltran or other similar 3 Amp or lower battery maintainer/chargers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...1&sr=8-1-fkmr0

I cant remember all specs of that tender but does it have a consrant power mode, like the 7002 model does?
Even if not, after batts are charged overnight and you leave tender connected during programming you should be fine while tender is set to full charging mode Sent from my SM-T230NU using Tapatalk

^This is key when coding, or upgrading the DME, as if it drops to "maintain" mode the voltage could drop below the ideal voltage and interrupt coding/programming
Honestly a basic manual battery charger at 10 amps should work just fine for coding and DME updates. I'm picking up one from Amazon for under $50 (Schumacher brand)

^I am in full agreement. You need a MANUAL battery charger and leave it on 10 amp mode while scanning, coding, or doing DME updates, it needs to maintain constant voltage during these operations and any AUTOMATIC battery chargers or maintainers will drop off voltage once the battery reaches full charge which could potentially get a voltage drop
