I don't know, I sure do learn a lot off this site. I already have a good DIY background, but sure helps to have the tips and tricks from this site that I learn from others' . Especially on these German cars. I have only had Japanese before, easy to figure out. These cars are put together so much better! Arming myself with information keeps the service department honest, kind of .

All of it depends on the dealership. But, yes, paid by the hours booked regardless if warranty work or not.

I believe for waranty work, BMW pays wholesale for parts and 20-25% discount on hourly rate.
It's pretty standard for Audi as well.

Next time, talk with the head of service and tell them that this guy treated you poorly. All bosses want to know that the work is being done right.

I had a problem with my SA as well every single time I would go in to the dealership or if I called him by phone. The worst was when I asked him why my x5 had been driven so much while it was at the dealer and he wouldn't give me a straight answer then hung up. After that I went in talked to the head SA and talked to BMW Canada and soon after he got fired and I got a new SA who treats me with a lot more respect then he did.

Hey at least you just got treated rudely. The last time I went to BMW, I was quoted $165 PLUS LABOR for a coil pack, spark plug boot, and spark plug. Those 3 parts total to $120 retail (from the dealer's parts department). I called the SA back, armed with this info, and asked her why they were charging me 30% over retail. I was met with a series of "Uhhhhhhhh"s and she finally said, "Well the mechanic told me those prices." I told her I'd be there to pick up my car at the end of the day. I couldn't believe she said that.
