@gtiownr: Thanks for the suggestion

Well, I just took apart the assembly again, freed the display, put all the connectors back in and connected it to the vehicle.
Then adjusted the H-POS with a tiny screwdriver, took it out of the car and assembled tho whole thing again.

...bit of PITA but it WORKS!

Was this with an aftermarket or stock screen?

You cannot order a "Stock screen" from BMW.
I used a new Display from the original manufacturer of this part: SHARP from Japan.
Part number: LQ065T9BR51U purchased on eBay from a Hongkong seller, the shipmant came from China though.

I realize that, I just didn't know that the aftermarket Sharp units have the same adjustment points.

Thanks for the info!

Replaced LCD but not right adjustment

Hi all
I have read this thread and purchased the LCD unit for my 05 4.8is with matching part number (ends 51U).

Installed it partially to see how it looks and it is only showing a square in the middle with black on the left and right about the same distance from the lcd edges.

I tried to play with the adjustment screws in the back while it is connected, it just moves the square without stretching to be in the full screen size. It is like the ratio is not 16:9.

Has anyone experienced this before and fixed it?
Did I possibly bought the wrong screen?

I saw another video on R&R of the screen where he didn't extend the display and pull the fuses. He just yanked it open once on the bench. That seems like a bad idea.

I got my screen last week.

Any idea what the VCO screw (red) does? Or what the two white nubby things (green) are?

It did not come with any documentation.

Leaving tomorrow for a week so I'll swap it when I get back. Looks like the fine-tuning of the pots on the circuit board is a huge pain in the ass...

wpoll will become famous soon enough
VCO is usually "voltage controlled oscillator" but may be something different in this case. If is IS a VCO, then it might adjust one the display frequencies, to sync the display.

I'd suggest the two plastic nubs are simply to locate the rear RF shield and/or to locate the screen on the mating assembly.
