What did you do to / for your E53 today??

Pulled out the gauge cluster and removed the cover to clean some dust that was trapped inside. In the correct sunlight I could see the dust specs and drove me nuts, it was a driving distraction, needed to be done lol

Took the 2001 I just got to a friends shop and paid him to change the fuel filter. Seems to be running perfect now. All the lean codes are gone and a more power now too.

Have you measured fuel pressure real time? It's near inconceivable that a fuel filter on an X5 ever plugs up although the pressure regulator is also in the same device. Fuel pump will soft fail and produce less and less pressure before it finally craps out giving you low fuel volume under high demand or even not enough pressure to operate the siphon jet. I've read many threads where somebody was sure they cured their problem with fuel filter to see a month or four later they finally fixed the real problem, the electric pump was weak.

Fuel filters def clog up enough to drop fuel pressure. That's absolutely a thing.

I bought a gauge setup just for testing it while driving. If it acts up again I will test it with it. The mechanic was messing around with the old filter when I went back by later yesterday afternoon and he was saying it was clogged bad. Couldn't get anything hardly to go thru it.

New Alternator put in as preventative.

Just finished testing the fuel pressure while driving and it did great.

49 psi at idle.

48 psi driving down the road

47 psi floored for long time

LOVE this setup. I can move it from car to car so I now have a permanent rig for on the fly fuel pressure testing while driving different cars.

Did my Front and Rear Diff Fluids.

Used 75w90 Liqui Moly. Currently at 119k miles the rear diff was dark gold like motor oil color and the front was brown so it looks like it was never done before.

This is the first time removing the reinforcement plate on a E53 and it is a stupid design for sure of how the bolts have separate nuts. I guess they realized it and changed it to a welded nut on the E70, so much easier on the E70.

I haven't removed the one on my 2001 but the one on the 2005 has welded nuts the bolts go into. Well I don't have to use wrenches on back side when I reinstalled it so its screwing into something fixed on the backside.
