Well, my Delphi SkyFi2 lasted me 18 years. I updated the external sat Radio with an Onyx Plus. Looks nice and seems ok.

Out at work site a person noted my exhaust was hanging a bit low on right side. I also notices extra clunking on the AM drive.
So I grab some wire to tie up the pipe ( Yep, you can take the boy outta the trailer park, but he will remain a trailer park boy....) Found this much more serious issue, missing a subframe bolt. Following pics are my short story. Small village where I work, hardware store doesn't carry any form of metric fasteners. My employer DOES happen to have a repair garage with what I need. Cue A-Team music. 1 - Start with oversize bolt 2 - Grind down to -just barely- allow the M14x1.5 die to fit 3 - Cut threads, slowly and carefully - only have the one tap & die kit 4 - Hacksaw to length 5 - Add lock washer, wide washer, and loc-tite 6 - Torque on that sucker! 7 - Tie up muffler 8 - Get home |

Ummm yeah, well don't look at the rest of the car if you keep your X5 in showroom. My commute is active logging road, so she has a LOT of bumps scars and bruises. cheers K |

X5 suspension refresh has begun. Due to heat and time, we only finished the rear. Shafts, arms, shocks, rose ball joint, integral links, carrier bearing, fuel filter, and driveshaft rubber coupler were replaced. The diff was actually clean. By markings on the rear diff fill plug, someone had changed the oil. We changed it anyway. Up next, oil pan, front axles, motor mounts, and diff work.

don't forget the wonderful concrete garage floors. too!

Ever since my wife was allowed (by some idiot?) to fill up two bays of the three-car garage/outbuilding with her junk (while replacing the house), I never got to reclaim my workspace. Toolboxes, toolbenches, even my bench vise are out of reach, as is the 220v outlet for the welder. Something always comes up to prevent me from rectifying the situation. At least my homebuilt squareback (semi-offroad) trailer never lost its' bay, so I can sometimes work on it, while on concrete; otherwise, all the other stuff sits outside, uncovered, and I must use 3/4" plywood sheets in lieu of concrete, and perhaps an Ezy-Up to shelter the outdoor workspace from sun & rain. I no longer can work nearly as easily as I could, due to deteriorating conditions of both the workspace and the shadetree mechanic typing this....
