I've just installed an Xtron IX1253BHL and it was a VERY VERY tight fit to get in the dash. I had to bang away some of the plastics on the sides of the HU hole to make enough room to get it in and even then it's wedged so tight I didn't even need screws.

Overall it's ok but there are some pretty bad issues which are really pissing me off.

https://xtrons.com.au/bmw-x5-e53-and...l-4g-ix1253bhl

1. the volume ramping is just ridiculous! Going from 3 - 4 on the volume gives over double the volume. It's just so stupid. Where is the smooth volume transition? Set at 3 it's too soft, 4 too loud.

2. The native Tidal app from the play store is totally unusable. After you select an album and play there is absolutely no way to get back! All navigation functions are not shown. All I can do is skip forward or back a track on the album. PERMANANTLY!

3. Spotify app leaves all the junk at the top of the screen when playing a podcast with video. It doesn't fade away or anything so you are left with crap over your video.

4. There is some engine whine which I have no idea how that's even possible since I have factory DSP and ran the 6m cable straight to the unit. Bizzare.

5. I have no ability to change screen sizes when watching Youtube or any other videos. I'm stuck with what it defaults to. This sux.

6. When using the units DSP module, when fading to the rear the sound simply goes quieter then disappears. all speakers work when left in the centre.

So yea, I'm somewhat disappointed after having high expectations..........

I drove my X for a couple of work road trips this month, getting about $600 in mileage to spend on upkeep. I backed into a concrete pillar in a dim parking garage earlier this year, thinking of ordering a used bumper skin to replace it. The old one is severely dinged and has flaking paint. eBay ones aren't perfect but I can get one in the right color for $300. Think it's a good idea? I haven't got a quote from a body shop but I'm guessing repair/repaint would be at least twice that. The rest of the body is pretty good but not perfect.

I got two quotes for rear bumper refinish/respray due to paint flaking off off topside corners...$900 and $1700. I've been hoping to find a better used one ever since in imola red. I'm sure location matters on pricing...mine was in Omaha, NE. Good luck!

Thanks for replying! That is very helpful. I live in a HCOL area and those prices are what I would expect if I take the time to get a quote. I'll probably just order the ebay one unless I can find one from a junkyard locally in the right color.

Sorry didn’t spot this.

Yes, I have all the original pieces. I believe they all were in very very good condition. DM me if you still need’em!

Should have gone with avin4 which fits perfectly and works great for me.

You should be able to return it for a refund if you don't like it.

US $899.93 or Aus $1,384 against the Xtron for AU $822 which has the new Qled screen and 8GB Ram with 128GB storage and I also think the Xtron looks better. I'm hoping that the issues I've got can all be fixed with software tweaking..

I'm sure it's more the Tidal app which hasn't been optimised for the screen aspect ratio and reading XDA forums it's fixable by changing the DPI for the app.

The screen and look is really fresh and modern and watching YouTube and Netflix is fantastic especially as the screen size means all the widescreen films look amazing.

Volume ramping I'm sure is a hidden setting or fixable somewhere. I'll contact Xtron.

Thanks for your input
