@ Qsilver7 I thought my battery was old in my x5 but turned out it was only about 3 years old too. so I`m trying the eliminator battery from canadian tire. see how long this one lasts. when it did get to -40c it turned the x5 over with ease, just like starting it in the summer ,couldn`t tell the the difference.

license plate dell , did some research and i've ordered those : here is the technician reco for our model
The license plate bulbs for your BMW are listed as 6418 which are the 36 - 39 mm festoons

You will want to measure the bulb to be sure which length you need, tip to tip.

The chips work with most but not with all bulb out warning systems, so sometimes there is some trial and error involved in finding the right match for your car. Unfortunately, I do not know what chips are required for your specific car since it really is specific to each vehicle, not even to each make/model/year.

The festoon canbus leds are on this page here:

Both the Cree XPE:

Canbus Eliminate Electronic Bulb Out Warnings LED Bulbs | Autolumination

and the 5050 8 smt are really nice options.

I wish us both good long healthy battery life...at least a good 6 years at the least.

Mocking up ProVent 200. It's going to be a tight fit. Might have to get a 150.

Ignition switch - bought a small offset screwdriver to remove that upper torx bolt. Removed the ignition switch and squirted it a couple times with CRC contact cleaner and exercised the switch with a flat head screwdriver. I did this 3 times as a temporary band-aid, and it seems to have worked.

New switch is on the way from Autohausaz for $56. Dealer quoted me $170!

Symptoms are common - radio works intermittently. Horn also. Seatbelt warning bong would come on for no good reason. Seatbelt and airbag warning lights on dash intermittent.

The piece that had me stumped was finding the right tool. There are a bunch of DIYs and videos on youtube, but they just show the two torx bolts and then cut to a commercial. When they come back the torx bolts are removed, and there less than an inch clearance on the upper bolt. One video showed them removing parts of the dash to get more clearance, and I'm thinking "that can't be right".

$15 for the mini offset driver at local hardware store.

Nice work. Is chip board dense enough? Mostly people use MDF right?

Update from me, these finally arrived after 5 months strapped to the back of a turtle coming across from Germany. Just wait on springs then it's Spanner Time!
