How long have you had it? I just got my estoril 4.8is a week ago. I think we're going to have it for a long time. It's only got 83K miles on it.

I have the same feeling with my x5. Sport '01 black/black. I bought via auction through my brother in law and I call him about every 6 months to tell him I love my car.

It has only cost me about $40/mo for repairs for 30 months and that is just amazing to me. I've had to replace all four rotors and pads, cam shaft sensor, DISA which I modded for $75 vs replace for $225, thermostat, refurbished my own alternator for $20, and repaired my door handle for free. I paid for my car in cash (literal stack of $100s) so with no payments I figured out the other month that my gas is effectively free so the 16-17mpg average doesn't bother me a bit!

Replaced the expansion tank (cracked) and automatic transmission thermostat today. Went really smoothly considering everything was original. I wonder what the next cooling system failure will be?

At 146k, only things replaced have been:
- Thermostat (~3 years ago)
- Expansion tank
- Automatic Transmission Thermostat (since they like to shatter when replacing the expansion tank)

The only biggie not mentioned is the water pump.

In the non coolant system, I would deep cycle your fuel delivery. Wife's died about 130k miles. Multiply your average mpg by 5000 and by 7000 that's the expected life span of a fuel pump (gas I don't know about diesel)

To deep cycle fuel system, drive down to single digits to empty. It's the only way to confirm the fuel pump hasn't soft failed.

Both our cars' CPS died about 132k on the clock. If I had an original cps I would buy a replacement and keep it in the trunk. Random stall when coming to a stop is the key symptom.

seats and steering wheel

Got a great deal on sport seats and steering wheel, so I switched out my standard manual seats and steering wheel.

I also swapped the seat cushion and back between the drivers and passengers seat - feels like a new seat!

I'm quite amazed at how different the car feels now with the sports seat and wheel.

Standard seats and wheel made it feel quite "executive", but the sports gear really does what it says and makes it feel sportier.

Almost finished my rear suspension rebuild. Both upper arms, end links, ball joints, and integral links. One side is completely done, but my ball joint tool broke on the 2nd one. Everything's in but that. The first went so well.

Waited 2 weeks for the tool, guess I'll try a universal one tomorrow.. Or a new bolt for this one.. not sure. Need to get it done tomorrow though.
